3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Rated on 9-22-2009 (Corked and caged bottle) This beer pours a medium sized very fizzy tan head that mostly diminished, transparent orange body, one ring of lacing, and fast rising carbonation. The Aroma is malty, oak, dark fruits, cherries, sour, and tart. The Taste is sweet, sour, tart, malty, dark fruits, and cherries. The Palate is smooth, watery and thin. This beer is light bodied. Overall, this beer is quaffable, very thin texture and not very sour tasting. This is not a bad beer, but it did not leaving me wanting this beer again as the flavor did not set the world on fire for me.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
12.7oz corked bottle poured into a snifter. Rating 1100. Pours a clear, dark amber with a ruby hue and almost no head. Aroma is light sweet and light sour. Red berries, oak and some fake sour. Like sour patch kids. Taste is light sour. Berries, oak, something herbal and a little plastic. Light bodied with a thin and slick texture. Very soft carbonation but a decently long finish. Overall, not bad. Nothing really special and absolutely not worth the high price tag.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Aroma is raspberries/fruit and malts and was surprised when there was no carbonation pop when taking out the cork. The flavor is raspberries, plums/grapes, mild sweetness and a tinge of sourness in the finish.

3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Revisited, I hated the first bottle so much I did not even rate it and let this bottle sit in the "cellar" for over two years... Corked bottle and served in my Corsendonk tulip: Almost no pop when cork is released but still appear to be moist, pours a reddish mahogany hue with a light collection of bubbles which actually left some spotty lacework upon the glassware. Well the first impression of the nose is a happy one, gone is the overwhelming medicinal and plastic notes that so put me off the 1st time I had the displeasure of smelling this. I get red wine vinegar, soured cherries and lemons, mild oak, pitty earthiness, some mild heather and grassy vapours.
The taste still is hardly a sour bomb but does seemed more integrated between the lacto, oak, and moderate sweet malts. Not overly flawed anymore just not all the exciting nor brash. Solid fruitiness foundation, some lingering sugars still and minerally undertones. No notice of alcohol. The mouth feel is smooth and soft, still under carbonated sadly. Overall, age has indeed improved this brew but can only go so far. Drinkable enough for me to finish the bottle in no time.

2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Pour from small bottle. Thin white head and a deep amber color. Nose is a little malty, a touch of dark fruit. Mouthfeel is a bit on the syrup side. Where is the sour? I thought it was a sour. Yep. It says 'sour' right in the bottle. Where is the sour? Subtle taste of lemon is what I'm getting, mixed with malty & sweet.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Originally reviewed: 10/13/09. Poured into my tulip glass. Pours a light rusty orange at first, but this quickly turns to a dark cherry color. Small ivory head on top. Some light lace sticks to the glass. Smells like Jolly Ranchers, cherries, and a wierd rubbery scent on the finish.
The mouth is moderately carbonated with just enough crisp bite. Decent body, bordering on syrupy. Flavors of mild tart fruits like cherry and cranberry, a decent hop presence leaves a little bitterness. There’s some mild funk and yeast in there, but pretty tame.
As a Flanders Red Ale, I’m not sure how this holds up as I have nothing to compare it to. Though it seems that it should be a bit more tart and carry a bit more funk in the flavor. But as a beer on its own, this is pretty good. I couldn’t drink too many as the fruitiness would wear on me after awhile, but it’s decent. Check it out and decide for yourself.
