COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The short days and long nights bring this prowling cat out on the town, looking to scatch up some fun with a great beer. This Night Cat is dark in color, bold in hop but not heavy in body. It is full of tropical fruit notes from the Citra hops that combine with a nice dark wheat malt flavor.

12 oz can from the Binnys South Loop Singles Rack (Chicago, IL). The last from my mix-a-six pack. Pours a nice brownish copper hue, a well hazed body with nice orange copper glow throughout, good light. Mellow frothy tannish head atop stays as a nice decent layer that sticks around and laces well enough. Aromas are a bit toasty, carmelized and bready malts meet some citrusy hops. Touches of grapefruit, mellow florals. Some soap, more grapefruit rind with touches of earth, a bit carmelized. Mellow age displays but the hops are still enjoyable. Initial is lighter end of medium bodied. A touch of toastiness and darker malts hits the palate with earthy hops, faint pine and citrusy grapefruit rind. Some softened malt elements into the middle with flaked wheat, bready malts, crusty bread and a hit of carmelization. Some gentle bitterness, mellow fruit. Backend is a bit bitter, lingering yet quickly tapering grapefruit, gentle fruit elements from the wheat. A bit odd. Perhaps a fresher go would be more prudent but itís not offensive, certainly drinks easy. But it seems to lack freshness and pop with itís hop character, a bit faded. It was ok, I guess. I donít think Iíd ever buy a full 6er though. I will say it does look very nice.

Can from World of Beer Tioga. Pours reddish brown with a good bit of light showing through and a small off white head. Aroma of bitter piney hops, biscuity malts, light toffee, grains. Flavor is somewhere between a malty IPA and a hoppy brown ale. Iíll go with the latter. Bready malts and some bitter pine, grainy flavors, a bit of toffee. Donít get much from the wheat. Medium bodied at most with medium carbonation. Decent beer but unexciting.

On tap, poured into a shaker. The aromas are crusty bread, grain (touch of rye), and overripe berries. It pours a dark red brown thatís almost opaque. Itís topped by a light brown head which reduces slowly to nothing leaving a very slick looking surface. It does, however, leave a light, thin web lace. Itís taste is a medium sweet with a medium light bitterness. This wheat beer is rather oily with a lively carbonation and a medium body. It finishes with a bready and fleshy fruit (dark fruit) finish - primarily dates and figs - as well as a dry spiciness. The aftertaste is a light bread flavor.

Can. Amber body with a frothy, off-white head. Aroma of caramel, toasted grain, citrus, pine. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Easy drinking. Pine and grain in the aftertaste.

I could call this a hoppy porter or brown ale though it borders on black IPA territory w/ its level of hoppiness. It is definitely a hybrid though that does not fit neatly into any category. Poured from a can, it is a perfectly clear red brown color. Its head is large, foamy and lasts in a slim mixed bubble sheet for the duration. The nose is big and hoppy. It has a lot of citrus and peach at first but wanes to a more piny character after it settles. This is a pretty dry beer w/ only just enough sweetness to bring out some chocolate notes from the roasted malt. Its texture is nice and creamy which I think help bring that out as well. I am not always a huge fan of this brewer but this is a really good beer.

It kind of reminds me of Dale's with a hint of rye. Very smooth and worthy of a can. One with a cool design, by the way. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

From a can this comes across as a semi dark ale with rude attitude. Not sure if I detect any wheat in there or not. Yes, each taste is hoppy rudely rudderless ruderness. probaly should be in the ipa style? What do I know? A lager lover will be dismally not impressed.

Pours a clear, almond brown, with a dense off-white head. Very fruity on the nose and palate. It has a chewy mouthfeel. Notes of hops, cream, and caramel.

Rich deep amber coloured body with a lighter brown coloured glow and a nice two centimetre tall tan head - all with a good copper tint. Aroma of rich yeast, some light spices, a touch of specialty grains, rye and a bit of wheat - all with a little hops, but not much at all in the nose. Medium-bodied; Strong hoppy note at first with a grassy and herbal character, all with a bit of a malt kick, some light spices and a herbal note that is dry and assertive. Aftertaste is very well rounded and balanced with the malt and hops coming out strong, a good light sweetness from the toffee and caramelised sugar notes and a hint of dry earthiness on the finish. Overall, a nice beer ,but not amazing, but well worth trying if you can find this, because itís at least different than others. I sampled this twelve ounce can purchased from New Beer Distributors in New York, New York on 25-April-2014 for US$2.25 sampled at home in Washington on 31-May-2014.
