GonZoBeeR (2156), ste-Eulalie, Quebec, Canada Mar 26, 2006 Aroma:chocolate,light caramel aroma...
Appearance:dark,light tan head...
Flavor:chocolate, light rosted malt... tiggmtl (4307), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Mar 22, 2006 Coffee and a mild vegetal note along with a huge bitter, roasty character in the aroma. Opaque black body is topped by a low, off white head that recedes rapidly to ring. Coffee and chocolatey notes are joined by strong bean like vegetal flavour. Plenty of residual sweetness leaves this feeling underfermented. Medium body with somewhat watery texture and low carbonation that coupled with the extraordinary sweetness make this quite sticky. Bottle sampled with GonZoBeeR, MartinT, Rastacouere and Siroy. SoLan (1369), Orlando, Florida, USA Mar 16, 2006 Thanks to JPDIPSO for the trade. Black. Dense, tan head. Nose of big roasty chocoffee, rich malt, and a touch of smoke/ash. Same flavor, classic, rich imperial stout. Full, smooth body. Would benefit from a little alcohol boost. Still a very nice brew, underrated at 3.33. Siroy (220), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Mar 11, 2006 [ Bottled ; chilled ; dates are unknown ]
A mostly diminishing average fizzy tan head tops up a very dark black body. Moderate lacing. No particles seen. No bubbles. Aroma presents malt being heavy roasted /burnt and overtones of biscuity while hops are barely noticeable ... Yeast character is moderate dough. Also, there are evident evocations of coffee. Initial flavor is moderate sweet in a chocolaty way while development presents cofffee and burnt malt. Finish is long . medium body... watery texture... Flat carbonation... yet another simplistic stout. Tmoney99 (4661), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA Mar 9, 2006 Bottle. Black color with an average frothy light brown head that lasted. Moderate roasted malt aroma. Medium to full body with a creamy texture. Medium roasted coffee flavor with a small bitter bite finish of long duration. Good not great. wintersdying (49), Louisville, Kentucky, USA Mar 9, 2006 Imperial stout? no. if this was labeled as a stout.... it’d be awesome... calling it ’imperial’... it’s weak.
hints of coffee, toasted wood... smoothy and mildly creamy... again... if this was a ’stout’... it’d be incredible... calling it an imperial though... it leaves much to be desired. Rastacouere (5551), Montréal, Quebec, Canada Mar 9, 2006 Almost black except the very boundaries, decent lacing browses the off-white head that remains pretty small. Oatmealish grainy smell bears a vegetal aspect that I’d link with turnips. Otherwise, mostly one-dimensional coffee oriented stout, showcasing its roastiness. The vegetal fears from the aroma are established in mouth where the palate is sweet and once again playing on light chocolate and stronger coffee nuances. Medium bodied, sticky sweet, very light carbonation. Not a big fan, without much identity and unpolished mouthfeel. wheninhell (485), louisville, Kentucky, USA Mar 8, 2006 dark brown/black with a brown head.....hmmm....looks like a stout. roasted coffee aroma...smells like a stout. bitter coffee flavor with a bit of sweetness....tastes like a stout. decent medium to full (more medium) body with a roasty coffee finish possibly a bit of alcohol. basically this is a decent stout. not bad just not big enough for an imperial stout.
