OhioDad (2491), Hilliard, Ohio, USA Jan 18, 2006 Updated: Jan 19, 2006Draft at Barley’s smokehouse guest tap - Pours black with a creamy tan head that stayed pretty well and laces down the shaker. Aroma is nice roasted malt. a bit of dark fruit and a fair hop finish. Flavor comes through with much chocolate and coffee, a bit of dark fruit and a bitter hop finish. Palate is smooth and creamy and a nice reasonable Impy that I enjoyed tasting. jaymobrown (1343), Chicago, Illinois, USA Jan 17, 2006 Cask at the Maproom. Foamy almost soapy like head. Dark black color. Super hoppy nose. Very floral. Smooth taste. More like a brown ale, and very good too. Good amount of alcohol. Fairly understated with little malt and hop characteristics, but some lingering coffee, chocolate notes. Not really an imperial stout, but a good beer. smoosh (523), New Albany, Indiana, USA Jan 14, 2006 Bottle - huge roasty nose with chocolate undertones. Black body with a thin medium brown head. Possibly as roasty a flavor as I’ve come across. A touch thin for an imperial stout. Very nice overall. antzman (313), Clarksville, Indiana, USA Jan 6, 2006 22 oz bomber, lot # 3345. Pours a dark deep black with a thin tan head. The aroma is excellent with chocolate and roasted malts. The taste is pretty mild for what I expect from a Imperial Stout. It is a well balanced beer, and quite tasty. Maybe expectations would not be so high with the Imperial name in the title, but still a solid Stout. envane (251), Evanston, Illinois, USA Jan 5, 2006 2005. The stats on the bottle tell the story: 8.5% ABV, 45 IBU, this is not the most extreme imperial but who cares? This is a somewhat sweet stout with lots of roast and smokey, choclate, and liquorish notes. More like a foreign stout. Zeswaft (1000), Seattle, Washington, USA Jan 4, 2006 Well, probably the most disappointing Imperial Stout I’ve ever had. Actually, I wasn’t expecting anything. In terms of imperial stouts this is very not good. It doesn’t taste bad or anything, just like a normal stout but it gets you drunk. $5 for a bomber isn’t that bad to give it a try. It has a nice roasty aroma but lacks flavor. Metalhead (570), Lake Zurich, Illinois, USA Jan 3, 2006 Poured dark brown with minimal head. Aroma was mildly roasty, coffee, mocha. Flavor the same. I was surprised at how watery a 8.5% Stout could be. On the plus side the ABV was abviously well masked and easy to drink fairly quick. 22 oz bomber. hopdog (5534), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA Dec 27, 2005 12oz bottle. Poured a dark brown with an averaged sized tan head. Some big floaters at the bottlom. Aromas of roasted malts, dark fruits and light chocolate. Tastes of roasted malts, dark fruits, chocolate and some coffee. Starts out sweet and ends in a light bitter finish. A bit thin for an imperial stout.
