| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jul 12, 2007 Pours very dark, close to black, with a deep brown head. The aroma is fruity and sharp - much sweeter than it should be. There is no roast or bitterness. Medium / light body with fairly soft carbonation. The flavor starts with plastic fruit and roasted malt that is oversweet. The finish has cane sugar and lots of off-fruitiness. An imperial stout that has fallen to hell after sitting about three months??? Thumbs down to the bad aging of this beer. Next year I will sample a fresh bottle and see how much my opinion changes. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Jul 23, 2003 Aroma of dark chocolate, oil, wood, charcoal, earthiness, espresso, toffeeish sweetness and some very faint prune, with light alcoholic fumes. Took at least 20 minutes to pour due to excessive foaming which was a bit of a nuisance, but it finally settled into a surprisingly slight head, allowing me to partake. Malty, chocolatey flavor, roasty with some syrupy sweetness and almost unnoticeable background hop spices. Palate is initially somewhat thick, but thins out and develops some rather unwelcome fizzy carbonation on the finish. Needs some adjustment, but has potential. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jun 9, 2008 Thanks to Ezra and fam for this yummy brew!--Poured a dark brown with a fading white head;n Toffee grainy head with a little coffee and sour earthy bite. More sour than I thought it would. I could see this beer pairing great with a bitter dark chocolate sample. Mmmm. Not a shitload of depth but very interesting. Citrus, bitter, sour tang in the finish. Oi! bitbucket (2036), Kirkland, Washington, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 14, 2006 Bomber - Thanks shigadeyo! Pours a blackish brown with a tan head. Has all the requisite stout elements for me: Coffee, chocolate, roasty malt with some hoppy bitterness behind it. I gotta agree, this is good stuff. cbkschubert (2031), Cochise Co., Arizona, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jul 26, 2007 22 oz. bottle courtesy of Bockyhorsey - Bottle opened with a big hiss. We know what that means. A big ass head. Maybe infection? Hope not. About 3 fingers worth and I only poured a few ounces of the beer. Pours a dark brown color with a big light tan head. Head left some nice layered lacing as it settled. Has a dusty roasted malt aroma. Flavor is roasted malt and some light chocolate. Slight roasted malt aftertaste. Light to medium body. A decent beer, but not one of the better IS’s. Thanks Wendy and Bill. sliffy (2012), Columbus, Ohio, USA

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Mar 2, 2007 black pour w/ a thick dense dark oatmeal looking head and nice lacing. Nice roasty malt aroma some light chocolates. Palate is very small for an imperial, but is ok for a normal beer. Flavor is fairly boring for a stout. Some light choclates touches of burnt bottom of the pot coffee and some dry roast malts. Not much to it.
