COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This deep dark delight harkens back to the days when such brews were shipped to the Imperial Court of Russia. With a firm roasty maltiness balanced against a generous helping of hops, Northwind has what it takes to stand up to the worst its namesake can dish out! Enjoy it by a roaring fire. Formerly called Iditarod Imperial Stout.

i canít believe iíve never rated this. i know i havenít had it in like five years. but perhaps iíve never had it at all. i thought i remembered it being super chalky, but itís nothing like that. itís a totally pleasant surprise. looks kinda watery with really no head at all. a ton of dregs, which is a welcome surprise given most beers are filtered nowadays. aroma, like the taste, has caramel all over the place. i think the only other time iíve had something like that was probably the southern tier creme brulee. some coffee. whatís up tyler

Fresh, roasted aroma -- slightly sweet. Good label on a longneck. Dark, pitchy beer with a sturdy light tan head. Flavor is boring and a little creosotic. Mouthfeel is starchy/frothy, body is slightly heavy, overall itís a little acidic. Wow, I was disappointed with this one. New Leaf Market.

The beer has hints of coffee, but itís a bit rough compared to most imperial stouts Iíve had. very drinkable but could be more smooth. Black and tan head aroma is of roast coffee.

Mild aroma of light roast , slight chocolate, some mineral/ tinnyness. Taste is mild herbal/perfumey, light berry, diet cola, diet cola in finish as it gets prgressivly worse, glad I dindt buy a sixer of this, easy drinkability but has a diety perfumey like taste. Clove sweetness. Herbal bitter. This kinda sucks for an imperial stout. Bad aftertaste.

12 oz bottle served in a tulip. The beer pours a midnight black with a somewhat thick tan head that shrinks down and leaves nice lacing. Really good looking beer. Aroma is roasted barley, coffee, cocoa, and some woody smells. It is a very roasty smelling beer. Taste is mostly dark roasted coffee and cocoa. It takes on a dark chocolate with cream flavor as it warms up and is a pretty nice sipper. Alcohol is really not visible at all and the beer remains sticky and clings to your mouth. I could have a few of these, pretty nice.

Bottle to snifter, pours black with an average light brown creamy frothy head.Average malt nose with hints of chocolate& roast.Medium light body with above average carbonation. Chocolate and anis with a slight bitter flavor that lasted. A bit weak for an Imperial Stout but not bad.

Bottle. The pour is black with little head. The aroma is mostly malt with some heavy dark fruits, almost a blackberry and plum aroma. The taste is rater thin for an imperial. A little boring taste compared to the smell. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours an inky dark brown with a vigorous (in a good way) chocolate milk colored head. Aroma is almost nothing. Hint of chocolate, metallic. Taste is booze, coffee, smoke, medium mouthfeel, smooth finish.

Countbeer (4754) - Best of E-Town mit ein Brauhaus, NETHERLANDS - MAR 30, 2014
Bottle: Served in a Chouffe glass: Deep dark brown pour. Medium sized brown foamy head on top of a black colored beer. Aromas of oatmeal, roast, raisin, some malts come through, some iron, hint of something sweet and a hint of creamy bay leaf. Flavours of roast, oatmeal, caramel, malts, light roast to more toast, some mocha, some raisin, light bitter, some chocolate and a creamy edge. Very nice! Aftertaste is roasty, toasty, malty, light chocolate, oatmeal and some grainy toast. Low carbo, creamy oily close to silky mouthfeel, medium to fuller bodied and an oily texture. Nice beer, creamy, round, balanced!

Bottle. Pours opaque black with a small tan head that dissipates quickly leaving a ring that has some lacing. Aroma is roasty licorice. Flavor is surprisingly astringent and acidic, strong anise, roasted malts and chocolate. Medium plus body, a bit creamy. Not bad, but I am just not much of a fan of anise-heavy stouts.
