Dickinsonbeer (2550), Hoboken, New Jersey, USA Apr 29, 2008 Bottle shared by Hophead75. Thanks Andrew! Pours a deep ruby reddish brown with a medium had that fades a bit. Aroma is woody, light stale old oakiness- some dry hay, and wierd tart cherries- almsot like a robitussin cough syrup quality to it, some barnyard funk and toasted almond- definitely not what I expected. More medicinal cherry and wood in the flavor- both try to dominate- soem sweet malts, sweet cherry and cherry pit- tannins are strong as well. Spicy and medicinal phenols wth some vanilla and plastic make it a bit muddled and dirty. Reminded me a bit of a de dolle oerbier reserva, but not nearly as good. I didnt like it much at the beginning, but it started to grow on me at the end.
AgentSteve (864), SF Bay Area, California, USA Sep 5, 2008 Pours a decent dark ruddy pourThe nose and flavor are wood, cherries and a bit of soap. riversideAK (1653), Shoreline, Washington, USA Aug 19, 2008 A good deal of oak on the nose. Some nice funky undertones, light tart fruit. Pours a dark red tone with a nice fluffy head and decent sticky lacing. Woody flavors are followed by a light fruitiness that comes across as sweet and somewhat tart. A bit of funk hangs out on the palate for a second too. Tartness level is medium and the oak is pretty dominant. Somewhat dry mouth feel too. sourbeerqueen (4), Seattle, Washington, USA does not count Aug 19, 2008 Smells like oak, wood, a little tart too.
