3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Thortron (2) - Illinois, USA - APR 30, 201222oz. Bottle. Medium pour. Aroma is of walking into my favorite local brewery and the air is filled with yeasty fermentation. Very nice. As it sits in front of me a thin, tan, carbinated ring frames a darkness where light squeezes through a deep midnight red. Also nice. Drinking this is not overly done, smooth, rich malt, roasty chocolate, and a hint of coffee lingers while the mouth is lightly soothed by the alcohol. In the end I was quietly awakened to the series by this porter which although not extremely exciting I still enjoyed and think is a great start. Good morning Two Brothers, I look forward to the rest of the day (series).
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20 DeliveryDriver (103) - Illinois, USA - MAY 17, 2013
Pours black with a half finger tan head that dissipates. Very complex nose, toffee, licorice, plumb, milk chocolate. Complexity moves on to the tongue, just a lot of roasty malts bringing out a lot of flavor. Nice toffee and plumb aftertaste. Medium bodied beer, alcohol is well hidden, and went down velvety smooth. This was not what I was expecting at all, and I have to say this was a pleasant surprise.
4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 19/20 novels (332) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - APR 17, 2013
Sweet loving, this is some amazing stuff. One of the best beers I’ve ever had (out of a bottle) and would love to snag again. An extremely roasty brew with a tart espresso finish and notes of plums, chocolate, coffee, and dark grains. Absolutely stunning.
2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 GT2 (5657) - Riverslime, California, USA - JAN 9, 2013
651mL thanks to one of my bros in a trade. I think my secret santa. Pours clear, deep brown to black. A high gravity pour generates a medium, tan head. Good formation. Weak retention and little lace. Nose is blue Kool - Aid burst, moving to green coffee like jalapeños. Taste is sweet, boozy, sticky, very sugary. No coffee flavor and no balancing hoppiness. Did they forget to bitter this beer? Whoops.

Bonus beer courtesy of markwise. The 22oz bomber pours pretty dark with a thin tan head of foam. The aroma is sweet and a little earthy rolling into dark roasted malts and black licorice. The taste delivers some sweet malts mixed with dark roasted coffee and a bit of spicy black licorice. The mix of coffee and sweetness is pretty nice.
3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20 PotjeBier (956) - Amsterdam, NETHERLANDS - NOV 29, 2012
22 oz bottle @ home. Almost black color. Quickly receding beige head. Aroma’s: coffee, but not strongly roasted, hints of fruit (berries?), malty sweetness retronasal. Flavor is (medium) sweet, somewhat herbal, laurel/drop. Body is actually on the thin side. Finishes sweet, roasted and finally lightly bitter.
2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20 Nsanders (241) - St Paul, Minnesota, USA - NOV 25, 2012
Deep brown with a thin tan head. Has smokey, licorice aroma, much lighter on the coffee than expected, and light on the scent in general. Flavor is light sweet to light bitter finish. The beer is more watery than it looked when pouring. I had higher hopes on account of liking other beers from two brothers and dark coffee beers, but this one is just okay.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 CanIHave4Beers (2495) - Des Moines, Iowa, USA - OCT 29, 2012
The beer pours basically black with a medium sized tan head with no real lace. The head doesn’t stick around too long really.
The aroma is plenty of chocolate and coffee, the beer is sweet smelling. For the most part it smells like rich dark chocolate and a little bit like coffee, it’s a pretty inviting bouquet.
The flavor is no where near as sweet as the aroma would have us believe. The coffee flavor is dominant, and it tastes like fancied coffee for sure. The dark chocolate character is strong in the flavor as well and between that and the coffee the bitterness level on the beer is very pleasant. The dark fruit character is mild and some light toffee shows through as it warms/opens up/whatever. I had no clue that this was as strong as it is, pretty much drinks like a normal porter. The alcohol is very well concealed.
The palate is a tad thin but carried well across the palate by the low carbonation.
