2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Lemon zest aroma. Cloudy orange, medium head. Whole orange flavor, ending with more of the peel. Fairly mundane with nothing distinctive.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
One has to question the wisdom of aging an IPA given that the hallmark of many of the best examples of the style is a very fresh hop aroma. Two Brotherís seem to have done OK w/ this one though and I actually believe this is one their best beers I have tried to date. Its color is cloudy yellow orange w/ a foamy head of soapy mixed bubbles. It seems the oak adds a bit of vanilla to the nose which plays nicely w/ the citrus aromas also present. There is a sharp woody presence as well which grows a bit more bitter and intense once the beer is tasted. Texture-wise, I am finding this just a hair under-carbonated and watery but nothing terribly distracting or off. At least it finishes nicely w/ a grapefruit rind bitterness. So maybe aging IPAs on wood wonít lead to the best examples as per style guidelines but you can come up w/ a pretty darn decent beer that way.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Spicy hop aroma, with hints of vanilla and oak. Pours a cloudy dark amber, with a full fluffy white head. The flavor starts out with a splash of hops, but the finish has an oak flavor, as well as an off taste that I canít place. Itís drinkable, but for the price, there are far too many better IPAís available.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Hazy dark orange pour with a frothy off white head. Aroma is woody with hints of caramel and pine. Toffee and caramel upfront. Bitter citric hop finish. Barrel character comes out late in the finish

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle pours clear honey color with off white head. Aroma is very subtle oak and honey. A touch of citrus spice and I mean just a touch. Medium mouthfeel. Flavors are all very subtle as well. Citrus hop spice leads to a honey sweet oak flavor, and finishes smooth overall. Nice brew.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
12 oz bottle. Pours a glowing golden with a small white head. Aroma is citric, fruity, a little bit piney, some woody herbal notes. Nicely balanced, very soft. Flavor is really nice, soft citric, almost a creamsicle type of note. Picks up a light piney bitterness, but actually getting softer in the finish. Again a bit herbal and nice and mellow. Medium body and a soft carbonation. Nice IPA, different but very drinkable and smooth for the abv

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Really liked this one, Iím not normally a fan of the oak aging process, beers get too alcoholly tasting but this remained smooth and consistent tasting. Nice hop kick and very balanced brew.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
5/13/10. 12oz bottle into a pint glass. The pour is cloudy dark yellow with a fluffy white head that fades to a few millimeters. The aroma upfront is very boozy - almost rubbing alcohol - followed by sour citrus, hops, and noticeable wood. The flavor is more straight IPA at first, nice citrus hops, pale malts, and a good balance - ruined by woodiness and more booziness. Not bad, but not blown away.

3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours a clear golden-orange hue with a thin white head that fades down fast to a filmy head. Aroma has a mild, smooth hop nose with notes of lemon, a mild grassiness, low amounts of graininess with a light fruity ending. Flavor starts off with a melding of citrus and a sharp grassy hops note. The grassiness carries through the middle with an ending of a smooth sweet grainy presence. Body is light with a mid fizzy feeling. Overall not a bad brew but the specialty oak processing doesnít really add anything to the brew. Good brew but nothing too special.
