Bottle to snifter. Pours copper/red, light head. Lots of hops and citrus on the nose. Molasses, sugar and malts. Interesting, as its basically a Red IPA (whatever that is). Worth trying.

UPDATED: FEB 24, 2014 Deep ruby amber, thin cream head. Aroma of nutty bread, leather, sweet caramel. Taste of rich roast toast malts, toffee, medium creamy body. Excellent smooth finish of coffee and light yeast.

Draft at Jerry’s. Clear red-amber with big, creamy beige head / Sweet nose of toasted grain, dark caramel, molasses, and herb / Medium to full body, chewy and sweet, but with good hop balance and some bitterness underneath on the finish / Flavors of burnt sugar, toasted grain, cough drop, cinnamon, orange, cherry / A surprising amount of character for a red ale.

Nice slightly hazy copper coloured body with a ruby glow and a bit of a muddy brown note. Aroma of fresh hops, tons of alcohol, an earthy and caramel maltiness, some lemons and a hint of pine. Medium-bodied; Strong alcohol and pine note at first with a lot of earthy malt, toffee, pit fruits and a solid hoppy finish with resin and nuts both showing. Aftertaste is quite complex with sugars, fruits, earthiness, alcohol and a good hop bite all noticeable and quite potent. Overall, a very nice beer with tons of flavours, some good complexity and best of all - a small format bottle. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Half Time in Poughkeepsie, New York on 26-December-2012 for US$3.49 sampled at home in Washington on 25-January-2013.

Bottle. Pours red with no head. Aroma is citrusy hops. Flavor is a blast of hops. This is a red IPA if there was such a thing.

Location: Draft at Ginger Man (NYC), 1/19/13

Aroma: The nose has some citrus and pine hops with some caramel malts and toasty notes
Appearance: This one pours a dark reddish color with a medium sized off-white head
Flavor: The taste has some sweetness from the malts, and a medium-plus hop bitterness as well
Palate: The body is medium-plus, it is kind of creamy and a little thick, with a dry finish
Overall Impression: I thought this was a pretty solid Imperial Red, but it falls just a hint short of being a top notch example for me. Solid stuff though, and certainly something I could see myself drinking again.
