Buddy, pal, mate, brother (or sister) from another mother, compadre . . . sidekick. All of these are ways to describe someone or something that is always at your side. Sidekick extra pale ale is one of those things. This golden colored ale is loaded with juicy citrus and passion fruit hop aroma yet balanced with malt and hop character. A true companion.

12 oz can. Excellent. Pours pretty clear gold with a nice white head. Initial aroma is perfume, geraniol. Some citrus notes, but almost made me sneeze. Light and crisp. Taste is pretty sweet with a light bitter finish. Flavors of biscuit, bitter orange peel. Decently sessionable.

A citrusy hop character. Low maltiness supports the hop. Fruity esters vary from moderate. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

12oz bottle from Proof. Clear yellow-gold pour with a thin white head that leaves loose lacing. Aroma is pleasant citrus, caramel and grassy hops. Tastes are melon, grapefruit, grass, floral, caramel sweetness. Quick dry finish. Feel like this would be a nice beach beer - especially if it’s in cans like the pic.

Pours light gold with a thick white head. Aroma is mild with a faint citrus aroma. Taste is easy, bitter tangerine rind & light malts with a long mildly bitter finish. Easy to drink and would make a great session beer, but not as complex as the ratings would suggest.

Pour is mostly clear pale amber yellow with a mostly tight white head. Nose has a light doughy malt with a bit of caramel malt. Hops are citrusy, light herbal, and resinous. Taste is a bit more malt forward, strong caramel note and drier bread. Hops are citrus and more herbal, extremely dry finish with strong carbonation.

The Sampler, Brooklyn tap: Pours golden with a white head. Aroma is tropical fruit, hints of pine, and a small malt backbone. Taste is a little bit on the hoppy side with a really light malty profile. I don’t see what everyone else here is seeing in this beer. It is a good light ale that isn’t watery, but really it is not that impressive.

kind of like a watery even watered down ipa. the flavor is good enough but the body seems a little too light with too much sweetness. watermelon minty flavor makes it like a kids drink. a mish mash.

Tallahassee, Fl. - ABC Fine Wine & Spirits - Betton - 12 oz bottle. Light golden pour - little to no head. Aroma has a light pine and spruce bent to it, but pretty plain. Flavor has a light bitterness to it, some citrus hints, a touch of spice, slight mintiness. Sours a bit in the finish Thick enough mouthfeel. Passable.

Longneck bottle, average label. Clear, very light gold, thin clingy head. Aroma is a bit cat whizzy, with boiled peanuts and lemon oil. Grassy, hoppy but still somehow rather bland, a bit tangy. Cloying hop finish. Medium-light body. ABC, Betton.
