Buddy, pal, mate, brother (or sister) from another mother, compadre . . . sidekick. All of these are ways to describe someone or something that is always at your side. Sidekick extra pale ale is one of those things. This golden colored ale is loaded with juicy citrus and passion fruit hop aroma yet balanced with malt and hop character. A true companion.

The Sampler, Brooklyn tap: Pours golden with a white head. Aroma is tropical fruit, hints of pine, and a small malt backbone. Taste is a little bit on the hoppy side with a really light malty profile. I don’t see what everyone else here is seeing in this beer. It is a good light ale that isn’t watery, but really it is not that impressive.

kind of like a watery even watered down ipa. the flavor is good enough but the body seems a little too light with too much sweetness. watermelon minty flavor makes it like a kids drink. a mish mash.

Tallahassee, Fl. - ABC Fine Wine & Spirits - Betton - 12 oz bottle. Light golden pour - little to no head. Aroma has a light pine and spruce bent to it, but pretty plain. Flavor has a light bitterness to it, some citrus hints, a touch of spice, slight mintiness. Sours a bit in the finish Thick enough mouthfeel. Passable.

Longneck bottle, average label. Clear, very light gold, thin clingy head. Aroma is a bit cat whizzy, with boiled peanuts and lemon oil. Grassy, hoppy but still somehow rather bland, a bit tangy. Cloying hop finish. Medium-light body. ABC, Betton.

12oz can. Somehow slacked out on rating this one, sneaking it in with the last can of the 6pack. Has a nice citra thing going on, but it has faded into some harsh unpleasant garlic, hairspray. Better fresh, obviously. Pretty standard clean new school tropical APA.

Slightly hazy gold with a thin, rocky and dissipating white head. Nose has a lot of pineapple and leafy fresh hop earthiness. The flavor is pale and sweet, a bit on the medium bodied side, but tasty, with tropical fruit notes, a touch of pine, a bit of floral bitterness throughout, and a quiet little sweet melon tone on the finish.

12/24/13. 12oz can from the Milan Hy Vee. Clear golden pour with a small khaki head. Dank cat pee hop aroma, fruity, not bad. Lightly sweet flavor, dank hops, earthy, resinous, a hint of a weird tangy aspect. Not bad.

12 oz bottle. Bottle says Best by 03-10-14. Why cant all bottles have this "best by" printed so clearly? Wow this is a beer you buy by the case. I cannot commend the brewers enough for the great citrus hop aroma upon opening. Fantastic! Very sessionable. Light, but not as empty in the middle as many of the session IPAs out there. Very hoppy, incredibly drinkable. One of the best Pale Ales I have had.
