Buddy, pal, mate, brother (or sister) from another mother, compadre . . . sidekick. All of these are ways to describe someone or something that is always at your side. Sidekick extra pale ale is one of those things. This golden colored ale is loaded with juicy citrus and passion fruit hop aroma yet balanced with malt and hop character. A true companion.

Can shared by drowland at xmas, pours a clear gold with a thin head, the aroma is pretty dank of hop resin and citrus, the flavor has a good amount of citrus on the front end with a decent malt backing, a little more thick and dank than I was hoping for but still pretty enjoyable.

Can. Pours clear dark gold with a large, foamy and frothy off-white head, long retention with good lacing. Aroma is pear, apple, and mango, citrus and grassy hops, light biscuit and cracker malt. Flavor is medium hops and medium-high bitterness, light cracker malt, tropical fruity esters, and a dry finish. Medium-light body and moderate carbonation.

Light floral hop aroma. Almost an herbal aroma as well. All very light in the aroma. Taste is pretty light and on the watery side. Some floral ish hops, some almost funky barnyard hops as well. Maybe some light fruity aroma. Ok, but wouldn’t buy it again. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Can, 12/18/13. Pours a cloudy gold color with a fluffy white head. Aroma is juicy, citrus, grass, some vanilla; real nice. Taste is similar; citrus, juicy, bitter hops, grassy, bright; finish is fruity and some breadiness. Nice, crisp, flavorful, refreshing. Beautiful lacing. Medium carbonation. Light-bodied. This is really nice. Very flavorful and drinkable.

Slightly hazy golden coloured body with a thick, three centimetre tall soapy white head. Aroma of grassy and herbal hops with a very light yeast note, some unfinished wort and a bit of light fruit sweetness noticeable. Light-bodied; Bright herbal and grassy hop note with a light malt backbone, some sugars, a touch of pine and a very smooth, easy drinking finish. Aftertaste is mild with only some light hops coming through, not much malt at all and hardly any complexity - no bitterness, either. Overall, a good APA, but not a great one - nor one that can be compared with some of the best, like Tuppers Hop Pocket Ale. Nice to try, but with these high ratings, I was expecting better - still nice in a can and easy to pack to bring with you. I sampled this twelve ounce can purchased from Binny’s in Chicago, Illinois (South Loop) on 21-August-2013 for US$1.67 sampled at home in Washington on 16-December-2013.

Can poured into tulip glass. Pale, golden color and visually looks very fresh. Smells of citrus...probably grapefruit. Taste follows suit heavy on citrus. Well rounded overall in flavor. Slight bitter hop in the middle and end but completes its journey pleasantly. Keep this sidekick around.

UPDATED: DEC 13, 2013 Bottle. Clear gold. Good head and lacing. Aroma is excellent . Had some sweetness to go with the classic pale ale tastes. Grapefruit. Smooth and balanced, not overpowering or mindblowing.

Pours a clear pale yellow with a white foamy head. Aroma if piney resinous hops. Taste is bright and malty with a powerful citrus punch at the end. Well balanced. Crisp in the finish. Good. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

I had this at Global Brew. Pours a clear gold with a white head. Taste hoppy, citrus, slightly fruity. I thought this was good. I would drink this again. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
