Buddy, pal, mate, brother (or sister) from another mother, compadre . . . sidekick. All of these are ways to describe someone or something that is always at your side. Sidekick extra pale ale is one of those things. This golden colored ale is loaded with juicy citrus and passion fruit hop aroma yet balanced with malt and hop character. A true companion.

Can. Cloudy amber pour with a very small head that fades to a ring. Aromas are fresh cut grass, citrus, light caramel, and light tropical fruit. Tastes like dry, bitter citrus peels with a good amount of grass and hop spice. Decent but more dry than I like my pale ales.

Pour from bottle. Yellow-gold in color, small white head, hardly any lace. Medium hop content. Spice, citrus, wheat, alcohol notes. Pretty basic formula but one that is crisply done. Enjoyed two bottles at Christopher’s in Wayne. This is what an APA should be.

Pours minimum head, semi clear. A nice hop flavor but a strong taste of grains.

Six pack from Chicago trip. Pours from the can into a bright yellow fogged color with a foamy top layer. A very pure hop aroma full of citrus. The sip has a nice carbonation. A bready background. Very quenching and crushable. A citrus feel on the tongue. Good stuff. Great session pale.

It poured a yellow/gold color with a white head. The aroma was of citrus, caramel and some grassy hops. The taste was of melon, grapefruit, grass, floral and caramel sweetness. Good stuff.

Pineapple in the aroma, some watermelon and strawberry as well. Golden with white head. Mostly pineapple and pine in the taste. Kinda dry. Needs more body. Pretty drinkable and well balanced.

Bottle with hesitant thanks to coyotehunter... umm... thanks or something. So this beer pours a light and clear gold with a fizzy head. Looks like something that is meant to not startle the macro-swilling crowd. In fact, it smells and tastes like that kind of beer too. It’s not bad, but it’s not adventurous either.

Nice change of pace. Great aroma of pineapple, mango maybe banana. This pours (from bottle) with nice clean lightly colored camel color and forms a nice 1 1/2 finger head. When tasting all the aroma flavors come to play with a slight bitter note and then turns to a light y sweet malty flavor. Very nice balance of hops and malt.

Lots of pineapple in the nose, very bright. A bit of tropical too, perhaps mango, and a bit of citrus. Really nice nose. Pale clear appearance with spotty lacing. Taste is biting into a pineapple at 1st, then a bit of hops and dryness, then a watery finish. Overall a solid beer. Thanks for the trade Ron!

12oz can. Appearance: Light golden, with a slight haziness, and a quickly dissipating white head. Aroma: a moderate hop fruitiness, melon, pineapple, and citrus. No real noticeable malt aroma. Taste: Light malt character and sweetness, giving way to a light grapefruit and grassy hop flavor and moderate bitterness. Mouthfeel: light to moderate body, moderate carbonation Finish: Fairly well balanced and crisp, with a slightly lingering hop bitterness Overall: a better than average APA and well balanced. Aroma is a nice passion fruit hop character, but somewhat subdued compared to other APAs. Taste is crisp and refreshing, but nothing that stands out vs other examples.
