Buddy, pal, mate, brother (or sister) from another mother, compadre . . . sidekick. All of these are ways to describe someone or something that is always at your side. Sidekick extra pale ale is one of those things. This golden colored ale is loaded with juicy citrus and passion fruit hop aroma yet balanced with malt and hop character. A true companion.

Can. Poured a clear copper color with an average frothy off-white head that mostly lasted with excellent lacing. Moderate complex citrus hop aroma. Medium body with a slick texture and soft carbonation. Medium citrus bitter flavor with a medium bitter finish of moderate duration. I would recommend this to a freind.

Abv was listed at 7 for the draft version. It is a light beer with a bisuity and honey like delivery. Hops are acidic with a light citrus.

12oz can. My can is more lime-green colored, vs the yellow one pictured. Swirl by: 07/25/13 (believe in the swirl). Nice citrusy hop aroma fills my nose as I flick the tab open on the can. Clear yellow color. Big white head. Decent airy lace. Citrus, some lime in the aroma. Passion fruit, that makes sense. Little floral, light grass. Just a light breadiness. Way different from Two Brothers’ other pale ale, Bitter End... Way less caramel malt here, and more fresh citrusy hop, from what I remember. I think this is a great improvement. Then again, this labels itself as an "Extra Pale Ale". What does that mean? From this example, seems like it’s lighter-colored than most pale ales, much more pale yellow, and a less pronounced malt profile. Lighter-medium body. Smooth, lighter carbonation. More dry texture. Light bitter taste. The big, fresh hops are cool, as well as the minimal malt. The body seems to be lacking something, though. A couple new citrus-hoppy pale ales have been coming out lately, the most recent I’ve tried that comes to mind is Southern Tier’s Live. This is still enjoyable and easy drinking. But Live seemed a little more well-rounded compared to this one.
