India Pale Ale style well suited for Hemingway-esque trips to the Upper Peninsula. American malts and enormous hop additions give this beer a crisp finish and incredible floral hop aroma.

Refrigerated bottle poured into a shaker pours clear deep golden with one and a half inch white head. Medium carbonation, some lacing, and medium body. Taste is spicy floral grapefruit and some piny hop bitterness. So smooth for an IPA and very little bite. Best IPA I have had, but still not one of my favorite styles.

Pours beautifully golden with one finger’s worth of foamy white. Aroma is floral and distinctively hoppy with some citrus and a bit of basil-esque herbaceousness. Pleasant amount of carbonation. The slight sweetness compliments the complex citrus and hops flavors. Anise/licorice flavors come forward as the beer warms and oxidizes. Finishes dry and moderately bitter with just the tiniest note of alcohol lingering. One of the finest IPAs I’ve tasted to-date.

Floral hop notes on the nose. Flavors of citrus and leafy hops. Finishes with a mild bitterness. Overall a pretty decent IPA

Perhaps the most satisfying IPA I’ve had. Pine but mainly citrus (grapefruit). Great finish without being too tart,

A: Nice dark gold color and perfect carbonation for an IPA, but this beer has become more and more filtered over the years... S: Excellent, super piny with some grapefruit that really stimulates the olfactory! The ABV is masked pretty well; no astringent or alcohol odor. T: Superb. Very crisp and very hoppy but no where near overwhelming. The pine and grapefruit are also visible in the taste. This would be a great "session" or "lawn mower" beer if the ABV wasn’t so high. M: Yet again, great! Thin bodied but not watery. Its everything an IPA should be, IMO. O: Love it and am happy to have regular/year round access to such a fantastic beer. Bells does beer right.

UPDATED: JAN 31, 2012 Hazy gold with lots of sediment. Citrusy hops on the nose. Taste is rich and fruity. Hefty amount of citrusy, piney hops. Good balancing malt makes for a big body. No question this is one of the highest quality ales I’ve ever had. In summary, it’s fresh, fruity, creamy, malty, rich, hoppy and full bodied. One of the finest ales I’ve ever had.

Bottle/12oz - Poured a clear orange amber in color with a medium white head that stuck around to produce some nice lacing on the glass. Aroma is hoppy... floral and citrus... with some alcohol. Flavor was much more pine resin hops than either of the above. Some sweetness that get quickly replaced by the medium bitterness. Finish is lingering and bitter with some of the hop flavors tagging along at the end. A really good IPA...

Nose is a subtle and pleasent citrus and floral with a hint of alcohol. The taste starts out with a honey like sweentness, graduating into a well balanced bitterness. Good palate. Finishes with a dry and lingering sweetness. Overall, what I like is the balance without the overpowering hops.
