3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Koelschtrinker (6544) - Köln (Cologne), North Rhine-Westphalia, GERMANY - JUN 2, 2011
12/11/11/12/11/11
2.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 suprchunk (802) - Heinsberg, GERMANY - MAY 31, 2011
Nice golden straw color, but just a shade or two darker. Initial pour produced a huge white head. After it died down and I poured the rest I got a nice two finger head that lingers for quite awhile. Beautiful lacing left on the glass that stays just as foamy as the head was. Giant hop aroma seems to overpower anything else that may be trying to get out. There is a slight alcohol and sweet, sugary, malt aroma hidden in there. Other than the hops, that’s about it.
The taste is something altogether different. There is a hop presence, but it is more on the back end. A bit of a flowery taste comes in up front. But it is mostly watered down malty tannins that are present. There is little body to this one. There is also an alcohol showing up in the taste as well. Along with all of that it leaves a dry feeling after each swallow. And a reminder that there is alcohol in this. I guess it borders on the low end of high ABV for the style, but it seems much higher than it is. Overall, it could be better.

UPDATED: JUN 17, 2011 This beer is just as good as it is potent. Bells Two hearted really has a great full bodied taste and a nice herb infused hoppy aroma. It is a nice dark gold and leans more to the hazy appearance. the taste is more of a medium-heavy bitterness. again infused with the more earthy or herbal tastes. I am very satisfied with this beer, and drinking ingeniously here in WI is what i love to do. Sconnie beers are some of the best in the world.

Pours amber with a small white head. Floral hops with some nuts and herbs. Slight taste of sweetbread up front then a nice rounded wave of hops with a bitter finish that lingers a bit. Very nice well balanced IPA. Will enjoy again.

A very nice beer. It is a bit to carbonated ... this adds to the bite. However, you dont need bite there is enough bite just in the hops. Butt the beautiful thing, the beer is not bitter afterword. It can have a tinge of sweet/bitter after but not pure bitter. This is excellent for an IPA... it is what people should try before all those bad IPA.
4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 robotopera (13) - USA - MAY 24, 2011
A cloudy amber color with a lacey white head. Full flavor with a floral hop taste which is light enough for people just getting started on IPA’s but enough for those who love IPA’s. The alcohol is completely masked in this beer so drink it slow.

UPDATED: JUL 30, 2011 The aroma is full of all-American hops of a very citrusy character--very nice. It’s not chewy, but it’s creamy enough to sustain that taste and leave a lingering bitterness, with a touch of grapefruit, on the tongue. The first two out of the entire six pack also left an ever-so-slightly skunky feel on my tongue, but the other two I drank were crisp, delicious, and skunk-free. Also, for a 7%-ABV beer, you really don’t feel the alcohol in your mouth, but you’ll feel it in your system after you down one bottle. And, brother, do they go down quickly. If you like this beer as much as I did, you will not be able to just sip it, so be careful if you’re operating demolition machinery or something like that after drinking this.
