yemenmocha (344), Glendale, Arizona, USA Apr 23, 2009 Pours slightly hazy off-gold color with contrasting white head that retains fairly well.
Nose is predominately grapefruit, maybe with some apricot. Very FOCUSED and clean.
Palate is pleasantly sharp with the hops up front, just like a real grapefruit is in sharpness. This is a very assertive beer. The malt is doughy-bready, with a good amount of salt & consequent mouth puckering sensation. Finish leans more towards the dry side of things, with the dry grapefruit bitterness having the final say.
Some may say this beer is one dimensional and lacks complexity, but like fine single malts the nice focus & concentration of this beer on the Centennial hops is a pure delight.
zizzybalubba (335), Elizabeth City, North Carolina, USA Apr 19, 2009 12 oz. bottle from Total Wine. Batch 9017 (bottled March 10, 2009). Pours golden orange with a thick (at least) one inch white head. Bright piney hop aroma. Aroma does not fade quickly. Flavor is just what you would expect; piney hops, citrus balance, light sweetness. Probably the most balanced IPA I have found. What a fantastic beer. TboneMalone (9), Plano, Illinois, USA does not count Apr 17, 2009 Pours golden orange with a nice white head piney and citrusy like hops that finishes with a piney dry taste very good ipa Rynoplasty (500), Louisville, Kentucky, USA Apr 13, 2009 Pours golden amber/orange with a nice off white head. Aroma is big citrusy grapefruit like hop with some nice floral notes as well. Flavor is big with lots of citrusy hop coming through as well as a little bit of malt sweetness to balance it out as well as a big bitter finish. Great. billk (300), Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, USA Apr 13, 2009 Updated: Apr 20, 2009bottle 12 oz. Almost clear golden color with ample white head. Nice fresh malt and hop aromas with traces of bubble gum. This beer tasted keg fresh. Only moderately into medium bodied but the freshness, quality, and flavors were excellent. Noticeable malt sweetness but well balanced with the hops. Perfect session ale. I was surprised how good it was and that it was a 7%er. SudsMcDuff (1691), was CapeTown,SA-now Houston, Texas, USA Apr 13, 2009 what could this be stumac? ... what an insanely good smell .. . fruits and floral runners .. . full bitterness, a fuckin tasty burger .. . sugar coated hop nuggets! .. an amazing brew to have in my presence .. hopheaven (79), Eureka, California, USA Apr 8, 2009 Pours a clear, pale golden with a hefty, effervescent head. Has a big, bright, and fragrant hop aroma of pine and especially citrus. Smells a bit sweet as well. A very pleasant smelling IPA, unlike some which seem determined to overwhelm. Flavor is, of course, bitter and hoppy. Something like mint comes through. The fragrant, flowery aroma does not abate upon tasting. It’s unique and extraordinary but, unfortunately, not for me. Mouthfeel is a bit thick and sticky. Good, worthy of its reputation, but I’d go a different direction with my own IPA. kmyers8807 (25), Ohio, USA Apr 7, 2009 Updated: May 28, 2009Poured from bottle into glass. Small white head with pine or floral aroma. First impression was dry, with a pine taste. There was citrus taste but not as much hops as expected. Overall good IPA.
