India Pale Ale style well suited for Hemingway-esque trips to the Upper Peninsula. American malts and enormous hop additions give this beer a crisp finish and incredible floral hop aroma.

The head was spare and the color was orange. It had a great aroma and it tasted a bit like an orange. It was a bit hoppy but balanced. It was biiter at first, but then it goes away half way through.

Bottle shared with Jerc and GregClow. Dark hazy yellow - very hazy actually, looks like a jar of honey, small white head. Wonderfully hoppy aroma - sweet too, honey, with fresh orange citrus and some lemon - what a wonderful unique mix. Even some alcohol. Taste has a huge hop wallop at first - very sharp and citrus like. A little thin in the body which makes the hops even more prominent. Dry bitter finish. Very nice, just a tad one dimensional.

12 oz bottle courtesy of Illinismitty. Poured a nice cloudy amber color with a 2 finger thick off-white head. Good head retention with nice lacing. Aroma is very hoppy with notes of pine. Flavor is very well balanced with lots of hop bitterness complimented with some malty sweetness. Great mouth feel with a crisp lingering aftertaste. Definitely a top 5 IPA. Too bad it is not sold locally.

Reddish brown with a big maly hoppy nose...very nice!!! On first taste very very sweet. Acceptable for a double IPA but way too cloying sweet for an IPA. The maltiness did not balance with the hops. Almost like they stopped the fermentation early. Could not hang with the sweet finish.

UPDATED: JUL 3, 2007 bottle - This beer pours a huge, long lasting head and has a nice aroma of floral hops. The color is a hazy yellow-gold. The flavor has a little malty sweetness up front, along with some pine notes, and plenty of hops from start to long, bitter finish. Mouthfeel is medium bodied and lightly carbonated. This is simply an excellent IPA.

Bottle. Pours a slightly hazy bubbly golden-orange with a large lasting foamy white head. Wonderful aroma of floral and citrus hops -- I keep smelling it over and over [sniff, sniff] man thatís awesome. Flavourís the same, juicy floral and citrus hops -- so delicious. Thereís malt in the aroma and flavour as well to balance things out but this is all about the hops. Creamy mouthfeel, medium bodied. An excellent IPA, if this were available locally it would always be in my fridge as itís definitely one of the best IPAs Iíve ever had.

Strong pine forest aroma. Floral aromas as well. Hazy yellow body with good head and decent lacing. Pine flavor and medium bodied. Cool and crisp on the palate and gone way to fast. Been saving this one for my birthday and today the day. Didnít disappoint cheers.

UPDATED: MAY 23, 2008 Pours a light amber with little head. Aroma is piney and sweet. Flavor is a hop lovers delight, with pineyness and citrus aplenty, very tart and bitter while at the same time feeling balanced and clean. I could drink this all night. After drinking a good deal of this, I have to say it is the benchmark of American IPAs. Astounding!

Bottle (12oz). Poured hazy gold, plenty of bubbles, large solid lasting foamy beige head. Sweet hoppy aroma - pine, grapefruit, apricot, pineapple and spruce, quite sharp - plus enough malt to make note of; there was a brief rush of yeast when I popped it. The taste is really muted - fruit and citrus/evergreen hops dominate, but are quite restrained - it does finish long, and bitter, but never aggressive; the malt is lightly toasted and also just murmurs along too. Mouthfeel is very creamy, lightly astringent, I felt it had solid body for an IPA. If you want a solid IPA but are reluctant to tackle the sharply high IBU Ruinations of the world, give this one a try. Recommended.

unimpressive beer for bellís standards. pours light yellow and hazy with decent head. starts off with fruity textures and ends with a bland bitterness of a generic beer.
