3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
[386-20070630] Tap @ Winking Lizard (Cleveland, OH). Hoppy citrus grapefruit aroma. Clear, orange brown body with a long-lasting creamy white head and some lacing. Flavour introduces more hoppy citrus, though less grapefruit and more naval orange. Medium body. Quite nice.

4.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
UPDATED: JAN 22, 2008 pours a somewhat cloudy dark yellow gold with a 1.5 finger fluffy white head. aroma is a powerful hop aroma with some malt and grapefruit, a touch of melon, and a touch of orange characteristics. has a medium to full body with good lacing and good carbonation. flavor is the same as aroma but stronger. has a nice smooth dry hop aftertaste and a touch of pine. the hops really do linger a bit afterwards and feels a little slick in the mouth. an AWSOME ipa one of the best!! i would pick this up by the case along with three floyds alpha king. hopefully bells comes back to Illinois very very soon!!!
re-rate awsome in a mini keg!!

(Bottle via trade with <A HREF=http://www.ratebeer.com/ViewUser.asp?UserID=3 target=blank>shigadeyo, thanks Craig!) Plenty of hops...Pours cloudy orangish gold with a tall frothy, pillowy white head. Big hoppy aroma of grapefruit and pine, as well as some caramel and vanilla. Mouthfeel medium-full, lightly pebbly. Big foamy rings of lacing. Flavor of grapefruit and pine, more towards grapefruit, with some caramel underneath esp. as it warms. Medium-heavy bitterness through palate from fore through finish.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
The color was a golden with orange hues. The head was thin, fizzy, white, and laced a little. The flavor was apricot and hoppy, but not as bitter as expected. The palate was perfectly carbonated and medium bodied. The finish was hopps.

4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
UPDATED: DEC 11, 2007 Rerate: Had to rerate this one...its seriously one of the absolute best IPAís in the world. It is blended so well, the complexity, the smoothness, the layers of malt that fold in your mouth. Great aromas that you can smell from 5 feet away. Just a perfect blend! Everytime I have it, I expect the best, and it delivers everytime...almost better every time.
Pours great cloudy burnt orange with great lacing and nice long lasting off white head. Extreme citrus notes on smelling and tasting. Great bright flavor of hops, sooo citrusy. Bitterness is lacking a little on the backend, but leaves a great refreshing clean taste afterwords. The malt character gets exposed, with a great "unique" round semi sweet taste, just as the hops start doing the work. Great, Great brew

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
One of the most citrusy ipas ive tasted, tons of lemon and lime. Very crisp and refreshing. Malt balance but not presence. Finishes of grapefruit and hops. lots of carbonation, full body and strong biterness. Very well done

4.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
not too loud at the beginning and quiet enough at the end. i think it was a nice balance as i kind of usually fear / love the thrillingly zesty first sip of IPA. this one hung in there the whole way without running me over like a circus bus. awesome job!

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
On tap at HDG. Part 1 of an indetemerinate length ratings miniseries entitled "Getting back beastiefan2kís buddyship." Poured a light amber color and smelled of pure hoppiness (no, not that beer from Alpine, which I havenít had by the way). Lots of grapefruit and pine present here. Though Iím generally not much of a hops guy, this is the type I enjoy most. Iíve heard stories about how insanely drinkable this beer is, but I didnít know how true it was until I took my first...well all my sips. The grapefruitiness jumps out at first, followed by malt support to give it balance. The finish brings the hops back, as if I had forgotten what I was drinking. A nice lingering bitter to this one, but not overwhelming. Truly well done. My new favorite IPA/IIPA, unless you count Houblon, which I donít...so there.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
Draught at HDG. Light orange/amber colored with an aroma of what seemed like a truckload of bright grapefruity hops. The hoppiness struck me before the glass came within a foot of my nose. Reminiscent of Hopslam. The bright hops are obviously the star of the show, but the full and clean cookie/caramel malts provide a nice structure which supports and balances this fine green-flowery nectar. Interestingly, the hoppiness seems to start out like fresh grapefruit zest on the initial sip and morphs into more of a pine charater towards the finish. However, thereís no resin or astringency. Iím pretty sure that this is the best single IPA Iíve had so far.
