India Pale Ale style well suited for Hemingway-esque trips to the Upper Peninsula. American malts and enormous hop additions give this beer a crisp finish and incredible floral hop aroma.

On tap at Bellís Eccentric Cafe, poured into a pint glass. This IPA poured a hazy coppery orange color with a 1/4 inch thick beige head that quickly faded away. This beer had a huge floral, citrus hop nose. Also some caramel and toffee notes. The smell is beautiful! The flavor was nice and citrusy. Full of hops, but not overly bitter. The balance between the huge flavor and bitterness is amazing. The mouthfeel is slightly oily/resiny with minimal carbonation. This is the best IPA I have ever had, hands down!!!

bottle....appearance:orange brownish tint with a hazy hue to it that was accompanied by an inch of white.....aroma: assertive flower and citrusy hoplicious nose...taste: more of that citrus sensation that evolved to an ever so slight bitter finish. thereís some malt involved but it doesnít take away from forward-taste of the hops....could drink this all day. very tasty.

A 6 pack purchased at From the Vine. This is a spectacular IPA. Citrus and hops rise out of glass as soon as you start to pour. I taste orange and pine. A great example of the styoe.

Tap at Hop Devil: Pours a deep honey/orange color with a frothy/creamy white head. The aroma is extremely bright, crisp, citrusy and slightly herbal with a hint of berries. The flavor has loads of lemony zing and a spicy perfumy character. The hops are fresh and whole leaf-like with some lemon-rind brightness and a long clean dry finish. A very bright and quaffable IPA. Dangerously drinkable.

UPDATED: MAR 23, 2008 amazing IPA, very well balanced between the hops and the malt. Amazing hoppy aroma, wonderful citrus, and floralness. Flavour was slight soapy, and piney, bu was also sweet, the hops really come through, notes of lemon, and orange linge in the finish, wow, great stuff!

Hazy pale golden color with a thin off-white head. Aroma was rich and malty with a definite citrus hop presence and a hint of caramel. Flavors are a perfect blend of rich maltiness and strong bitter hops. Some notes of caramel, grapefruit, wood, pine needles, and a certain earthiness. Very drinkable rich and full mouthfeel with a clean and astringent finish. I would have never realized that this beer was 7% abv just by tasting it... pretty amazing stuff. Perfectly well-balanced. Awesome.

My attitude toward this beer depends on the day. Something about it is intimidating to me, even next to Dogfishís 90 and 120, as well as the Crooked Trees, Hopslam and even Founderís Devil Dancer. I canít explain why, but Iíll try. Something about the strong citrusy nose and hoppy aromas, the punch to the palate with more bitterness throughout the tastes of grapefruit peel and pine. I mightíve topped off a busy bar night long ago with this IPA, which could be why it is such a hard one to put away consistently nowadays. A manly beer. I canít even say I enjoy it so much as respect it.

The aroma was strong caramel with a fruity and citrusy orange/grapefruit presence. Hop aromas dominated with malt taking a backseat. The malty sweetness was light and the citrus presence was strong. In the glass the beer was slightly hazy golden amber with an off-white frothy head which laced the glass. The flavor was strongly centered on citrus, orange/grapefruit most notable. Along with the hop flavor came a strong bittering and some caramel but the malt presence was not overly sweet. The flavor was also lightly bready. The body was medium and the carbonation left the beer creamy in texture. The citrusy hops lasted long into the aftertaste. A very nice pint! Pint at Tylerís Durham.

UPDATED: JUN 26, 2007 Bottle and Tap. Again and Again. Hop bitterness that lingers long into the finish. It is very drinkable even though it ends on a slightly bitter note. That is what gives it distiction. It has a charm a lot of other IPAís donít have. Also doesnít have the maltyness of say dogfish head ipaís. Very distinctive IPA. My favorite everyday beer. If you crave the citrus American hops then this is for you. Also try Bellís Expidition Stout and Hopslam if you can find it. rr....The label has really grown on me as time goes.
