Nice strong aroma with a taste of citrus and strong hops. Subtle malt aftertaste prevents it from being overhopped. This is a beer Iím gonna wish I could get my hands on more often.

UPDATED: JUL 18, 2006 Rerate: Had this on tap at the Fiddlerís Hearth. Man it was truly fantastic. Fresh aroma and flavor. Really hit the spot.
Two Hearted Ale has fine balance all the way through. In the aroma, the Centennial hops and sweet malt intertwine great. The bitterness is kept in check with a good malt back bone. It poured a hazy yellow-orange and a small off white head. The medium body makes this beer a staple beer in most households.

UPDATED: MAY 14, 2007 Thanks to Pailhead for this one. Massive citrus/hop aroma. Very aromatic beer. Cloudy/yellow/gold with a two finger thick head. Surprisingly light though still very citrusy and hop flavored. A lot of grapefruit rind in the finish. An excellent maxing and relaxing brew that lives up to its rating.

Big creamy head. Look orange but has a hint of grapefruit taste. Solid IPA with the usual hops but more flavor and complexity than most.

3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Bright orange amber, medium fluffy head. Lots of hops in the aroma (cascade), grapefruit, some earth. Sticky pine medium body, west coast all the way. Harsh carbonation really bothered me in this one, adds to the bitterness. There are better IPAs.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: FEB 10, 2006 One Iíve had many times, this time in a bad from a bottle, poured into a glass.
Pale amber with a nice head. One of the more ridiculously hoppy IPAs Iíve run across. Sometimes more piney, sometimes more floral. The malts underneath are especially pleasant, sweet, and smooth, but they are overpowered a bit. Not my favorite IPA, but close.
Rerate note! If you can find Cask Aged Two Hearted (called Hand Pulled at the Berkley Front in Berkley, MIchigan) GET IT! Itís very different from the regular, smooth and aromatic in a way that far exceeds the regular! I would rate it a 4.4 at least!

I buy a six almost every week. There are few beers that taste like Two Hearted: hops like no other. Bellís is our stateís best kept secret. Even local bars donít carry this on tap for some odd reason. Brilliant beer.

Did enjoy this one very much. Very full and dark IPA with nice hoppiness everywhere. Not over the top and drinkable. Glad I finally was able to taste a Kalamazoo beer.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Picked up this bottle on a recent trip to Cleveland.
Pours a hazy copper with a creamy ivory head. Lots of draping lace down the side of the glass. Smells of cirtusy hops and light fruity malt.
Taste is dominated by intense floral and citrusy hops. Thereís some light pale malt crispness in there but this brew is all about the hops. And while the beer may be unbalanced the hops flavors are nicely balanced with each other. Bitter and sweet citrus intertwined. Long lingering bitter aftertaste and crisp. Taste leaves you craving more. Good stuff.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
UPDATED: MAY 8, 2009 Bottle for this rating, but I have had it at the brewery also. Two Hearted Ale pours a deep yellow( not quite orange) with a nice off-white head. I had forgotten how good the hop aroma is with this beer. It reminds me of smelling the hops in the package as I add them to homebrew. It has an excellent hop flavor, but isnít particularly bitter at first, BUT, it then finishes very dry. I love very hoppy beers, but this is just slightly thin in body. It is very good, but its thinness keeps it from being one of the truly elite American IPAs to me. Overall- very good!
