UPDATED: APR 23, 2005 Picked up this beer on a trade in Coventry last weekend (where a song about my ratebeer user name was played). Huge sticky head atop a murky orange/brown body. Sweet orange aroma. Great citrus hop flavor with a nice lemon taste. A most excellant ipa.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: JAN 14, 2006 Sampled this beer at the Great Taste of the Midwest in Madison WI. Even though my scores on this are accurate and well researched, ?Da Man? wants me to say more about the beer, so I will. I love Bell’s, and this is one of the better IPA’s I’ve had in a long time. A very nice beer.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
What goodness from such an unassuming trout bottle! Aroma of citrus (lemon, grapefruit and HUGE orange). Appears hazy, and almost murky dark gold/light orange. The flavor is so rich and full, with orange and even some gin in the taste. The only flaw is a little alcohol coming thru (a shame at 6%). Would make the perfect transition beer for those needing an intiation into american craft beer. This is Dreadnaught’s not-so-distant smaller cousin.

Draft. Bright, hazy gold. Off-white head w/ fine bead & excellent lace. Robust, very fresh aroma of citrus & pine w/ lovely notes of caramel & vanilla. Full-bodied. Nice & sticky. Flavour is complex, very hoppy & bitter w/ long lingering finish. Still the malt is there to support. Excellent beer.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20
Hazy golden color. Small head. Aroma was the familiar hoppy IPA smell that one usually gets. Reminds me of the Dogfish 90 minute. Not painfully hoppy, which in my opinion is a plus. Perhaps one of the best IPAs that I have ever had (tho I?ve only had a handful-ha!) My introduciton to Bells beers. I am impressed and I will return for more.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
bottle. one of the spoils from a recent midwest adventure. pours a slightly hazy almost orange yellow. clumpy fat white head with specks in it. leaves tendrils of foam floating deep within the glass. aroma reminds me of the candy lick-em-ade powder i used to eat as a kid, very sweet take on the standard ipa aroma that alerts you that some thing new is afoot. flavor is a smooth balanced hoppy greatness. mouthfeel of an orange sherbert freeze with bitterness that is phenomenal. nice citrus flavor that is strong but not too overpowering. not for the weeak or those who don’t appreciate a good IPA.

4.5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle. Nose is a very piney hop. Hazy gold body with a one finger foamy head. You can smell the hops from a meter away. Sweeter than most IPA’s. The hops are so well rounded words escape me. Perfectly hopped. Not too powerful, not too light. Under the hops is a citrusy sweetness that puts this beer over the top. This is one of the best IPA’s I have ever had the pleasure of tasting.

Wow! Delicious IPA. Beautiful Hop Aroma destinguishable from 10 feet away. Poured a Dirty Golden yellow with a fast disapating head. A gorgues Blend of subtle malts and Intense Hop additions has moved this to the Top of my list. Well Done!
