4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottled. Thanks to BeerandBlues2 and Ernest for sharing. Beer is a hazy medium copper with a large, white, frothy, mostly lasting head. Nice wings of lacing on the sides of the snifter. First impression on the nose is that of balance and woodsyness. The aroma is malty with moderate notes of toasted grain, cookie and caramel; Hoppy with a balanced portfolio of moderately-weighty grapefruit, herb, straw, resin/pine and cedar, trace of marigold flower; Yeasty with a light note of dough, trace of sharp cheese; Miscellaneous notes of powdered ginger, perhaps a trace of white pepper and tropical fruit. The flavor is moderately sweet, moderately bitter, lightly acidic with a long, moderately acidic, moderately sweet, lightly bitter/grippy finish. The body is medium, the texture is velvety and the carbonation is lively. Neat-o

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Head is initially average sized, frothy, off-white, mostly diminishing.
Body is hazy light amber.
Aroma is lightly to moderately malty (toasted grain, cookie), moderately hoppy (grapefruit, apricot, resin), trace yeast (dough), with light notes of dried fruit (mango/pineapple), ginger, and coriander.
Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly to moderately bitter.
Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, moderately acidic, moderately bitter.
Medium body, velvety texture, lively carbonation.
Yep, deserving of its high scores. Slightly too citric in the mouth to be 4+ for me, but otherwise quite interesting...a lot more subtlety in the nose than most American IPAs.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Hazy golden color with a large white head. Huge floral aroma with some nice pine notes. Pine/citrus more noticeable in the flavor with a valiant attempt by the malt to add some balance. Very flavorful and drinkable ale.

4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
UPDATED: NOV 10, 2006 The hops were so arromatic at first it reminded me, unfortunately, of some flowery air deoderant/bag but I quickly sensitized and now I crave the aroma. Fantastic dry balanced hop flavor if you are in the mood for smoothness. Once or twice iíve had a bottle that seems a bit off, and I donít think itís me-- apparently perfection is hard to achieve 100% of the time.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: AUG 21, 2006 Aroma is a kiss of sugar sour apple hops. Looks a deep amber gold, small fine white tight hed with sponge cake bubbles. Bitter, a little fruity, not too complex, a little over-bitter masking any potential flavor. Slightly metallic palate. Not to my taste for IPAs.
Re-rate: nice juicysweet citrus aroma. Pilsnery pale gold with whitecap head. Tastes like a big sweet orange with a mild , smooth, creamy hop finish. Moderate-light alcohol presence. Overall a better flavor, palate and experience than my first drink, but still not a top experience, a solid IPA without major flaws.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Tasted from bottle at Nat. Homebrew Conference 06/23/06. Golden color with white head. The aroma was strong and all hops. I could smell floral and an orange citrus note. The flavor was all hops too. It tastes just as it smells. Nice round hop flavor cut with some citrus hop bitterness. Really nice beer.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
355 ml bottle. Yellowish golden. Clear. Throws a tall creamy white head that clings to the glass. Pungent slightly sweet raspberry hop aroma. Great aroma that makes you want to throw it down immediately. Medium-bodied. Feels slightly sweet in the mouth. There are lots of hops that counteract those hops to make it a well-balanced one. Hoppyness is really mellow and the bitterness is without harsh notes. Finishes somewhat abruptly with a watery feeling. This is a great IPA. Batch 7355.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours to a hazy golden-orange, with off-white head and excellent lacing. Aroma is strongly hoppy, mostly floral and grass, with a hint of citrus. Flavor is much the same, with just the right amount of hop bitterness. Beer ends with a dry finish. All and all, a very enjoyable IPA.

5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
UPDATED: DEC 3, 2006 Bottle, batch 7397. Bought at brewery. This is my first 5 rating after 143 reviews. Complex smell and taste with bitter, sweet and fruit. Iím a big fan of Founders and Stones---but this is the best IPA!
