India Pale Ale style well suited for Hemingway-esque trips to the Upper Peninsula. American malts and enormous hop additions give this beer a crisp finish and incredible floral hop aroma.

Pours amber with a huge white head. Aroma is piny, with hops and citrus. Taste is full of pine, hops, and some citrus fruits. A great IPA, another solid beer from Bell’s.

A great IPA. Superb. For a solid review..... think of the best IPAs you’ve had and then make them much much better. A strong delivery from Bells.

Pours a cloudy amber color with a huge soapy head. Aroma is pleasing-hops, citrus, pine. Body is heavy for an IPA. Taste is hop-loaded, but well-balanced with citrus.

Pours golden wit a big lacy head, stong hoppy aroma. The right amount of carbonation. Complex taste, full of fruit and pine flavors.

12 oz bottle; pour yields a pale, slightly hazy golden hue with a big frothy head, leaving a silky lacing on the glass. aromas are of big bitter hops, thick, musty scents, a tiny hint of salt, notable evergreen bark, and coriander in the back. there’s depth here. the citrus does indeed shine through with a pleasant hop character on the palate. mild spice, carbonation, and bitterness. this is a very well crafted ale with high drinkability. the aroma was a bit muted at first, but then opened up and burst into complexity. truly a great ale.

UPDATED: SEP 2, 2008 Man oh man oh man. Was I glad this showed up in NC. Let me say this, I am not a hop man and hence not an IPA man. Taking that into account I loved this beer. Poured a smooth peachy amber with a medium thin, creamy, white head with a slowly receding lace. The aroma was hoppy above all else, very sweet and very fruity, definite citrus. Absolutely tantalizing. The flavor was sweet, fruity, and they hops were masterfully done. Not over the top, very well maintained. The palate was bitter at the back of my mouth. God I loved this IPA. I literally could not stop drinking it.

Bottle dated 4 weeks old. Poured a delicious looking hazed orange-gold ale in the glass with a puffy 3 finger white cap that lasts and laces the glass well. Aromas are delightful: sweet malts under grape fruit tones and floral aromas...a light earthy mustiness...very much like Anchor Liberty but more pronounced. Flavor and Mouth -Feel Profile: The delivery: ....up front thick caramelized malts to chew on which are almost instantly balanced off with a ceadr-citrus bittering. Silken mouth feel. Mid palate: ....you get some complexity of tastes as the hop alphas and yeast by-products produce some interesting succulent fruits-pine-citrus peel tones that blend with the sweet rich breadiness of the malts, much like a tart-floral marmalade on toast...perfect balance in this "big" rich full bodied ale. The finish: ...malt-hop balance slowly dissipates as the long finish becomes slowly more bitter an floral with a final light citrus peel after taste and a light warming from the 7%ABV. A very well put together American styled IPA...not exactly in the Pacific NW style but it bears many characteristcs. tThe nose and flavor are infused with a wonderful hop mixture that indicates both hopback infusion and dry hopping. Smooth, Big flavor, well balanced, drinkable and satifying. This ale has all you ask for in a daily beer.

Rated 8/1/06: Utterly awesome, this is another great example of what an IPA should be. Aroma is floral, citrusy, piney and hoppy, sweet and malty I could sniff this for a long time. Pour is a nice golden copper with a creamy thick white head and nice lacing. Mouthfeel is medium thick and really smooth with a creamy finish. Flavor is an intense mixture of malts and hops, truly remarkable. The drinkability of this is good the strong hop presence doesn’t become overly bitter. Fantastic! Overall this will become one of my favorites.

UPDATED: FEB 16, 2010 This stuff is GOOD. I would compare it to Racer 5. There are definitely a lot of hops in this beer. It is VERY floral and citrus, making it incredibly refreshing. The malt balances it out nicely, but still leaves a flavor very dominated by hops. Very full flavor. One of the best aromas i’ve smelled in a beer. Nice.
