heavy (804), Split, Croatia Jan 24, 2009 0.355 l bottle my uncle brought from Milwaukee. It poured very nice, murky amber body with big white head. Wonderful aroma, citrus fruits, specially oranges, some grapes, lot of spices, some of which being quite strange and new to me. Slightly yeasty as well. Flavor was very strange to me...this was my first true IPA. Straightforwardly bitter, all hoppy, with some oranges and some other fruits mixed with pepper and many other spices Also soapy, which I disliked for sure. Medium bodied, with alcohol not felt at all. Finish had some finer bitterness, again of orange peel and some spices, nice and long. Damn strange and had its special kind of beauty, which I liked to some degree. Allen (1282), Switzerland Jan 23, 2009 Bottled 355ml. Courtesy of nearbeer. Appearance: It pours a deep copper beer with an beautiful creamy, nicely lasting off-white head. Darker in color and hazier than Stone india pale ale for example. Beautiful lacework. Aroma: Fruity, citrusy, hoppy (Centennial hops) with hints of raisins, apples, caramel and figs. Flavor and palate: A lot of oranges, apples, figs, rasins and caramel in the taste. Moderate bitterness. Indeed, quite a lot of reminiscent raisin in the malt profile. Medium bodied. Rather sweet. Licorice emerging in the finish which is slightly bitter. Overall impression: Less bitter than expected with a decent, but not overly interesting malty background. Overrated in my opinion. Thanks a lot nearbeer! luttonm (274), Belgrade, Serbia Jan 22, 2009 12oz in DC. Very nice IPA with clean hops leaning toward robust and bitter. Tasty. Ryan82SM (229), Louisville, Kentucky, USA Jan 22, 2009 Poured at the Irish Rover, Louisville. Aroma was full of hops and some citrus. Appearance had nearly no carbonation with a creamy head that dissipated quickly. Flavor was straight hops, duh, with maybe even a hint of grapefruit. Light, creamy palate with some brief liveliness. It was good, but I could have used some more variety in the flavor. vomit (65), USA Jan 22, 2009 Wow! Lots of hops bitterness. Can drink one or two before it overwhelms the senses. It’s certainly not Blatz, let’s face it. travita (1851), Frisco, Texas, USA Jan 21, 2009 Copper color, clear in look. The aromas are alcohol, hops, malts, citrus, caramel, and flowers. Medium body and low to medium bitterness. Taste is floral, malts, pine, citrus, and caramel. jebb12 (39), Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA Jan 20, 2009 One of the best pale ales out there if not the very best. One is first struck by the Baroque copper hue and light foamy head then the odiferous but not overwhelming scent of fresh earthy flowers and grains exquisitely balanced between sweet and acid. A masterpiece of brewing with a high hop rate that plays remarkably well off the other qualities of alcohol and malt. ElDuderino (136), Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts, USA Jan 20, 2009 Bottle. Pours a nice transparent amber body with fluffy pure white head. Sweet and spicy aromas like fresh baked bread and oranges and cloves fill the nose. The pallate is delicate and multilayered. The bitter hops fill the front of the mouth with a dry bitter sensation and the sweet chewy malts dance with creamy smooth sensations on the roof of my mouth. The bitterness holds out just long enough to finish dry and leave me craving another drink. The flavor is full of dry grassy hops, clove spices, grapefruit and a sweet thin honey residue. Really a nice treat.
