| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 15/20 | Aug 22, 2008 Maybe it was because I was really looking for a refreshing swig or maybe it’s because it’s not a good lunchtime brew, but BOY is this strong for what I expected. But, as usually happens, I got used to the taste and strength and it was great to wash down some garlic crackers with. Too skunky for me in the aftertaste, though, and doubt I will purchase again. jb (1033), Rochester, New York, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 22, 2008 Very nice, very powerful aroma of pine, very much a fresh hops smell. Also a bit of fresh baked bread was in the air. Oily mouthfeel, plus you could taste the pine and there was lots of malt in the palate. Wasn’t overly hoppy, was extremely well balanced and done. Don’t know if I can rate a straight IPA over 4 though, but it is going towards the IIPA in alcohol % and all. Had wall on a visit to MSU. Strykzone (1468), Wood River, Illinois, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 22, 2008 A nice looking beer with an amber orange hue. Some flourescence. Two finger tan head with good retention. Pine and grapefruit aroma. Very well hopped with grapefruit dominant. Malt is a distant second. As it warms some peppery spice shows up. Very nice feel. It is creamy, smooth and fizzy. Bitter, too. Quite good but a 99%?
