fredandboboflo (1395), East Setauket, New York, USA May 17, 2008 Bottle. Didn’t realize I was going to rate this quite so high when I put numbers to it, but there’s just so little left to be desired. The most amazingly perfect smelling beer I’ve put my nose to, amazing floral and citrus hoppiness, just the right amount of malt to form the base for the hops to work their magic. Perfect head with tight bubbles. Flavor maybe could be a 10 as well with all those luscious tangy hops dancing across the tongue, just didn’t quite live up to that aroma for me, but I don’t think anything could have. An absolute joy to quaff, not too bitter or dry, but nowhere near sweet. Magnificent. FunkyBrewster (436), Chicago, Illinois, USA May 17, 2008 Updated: Sep 6, 2008One of my favorite IPA’s. Beautiful hop aroma. Nice cloudy deep orange appareance. The flavor matches the aroma. Not a letdown through the finish. Stong piney hop flavor, with a nice malt undertone. Smooth finish. All around great IPA MFootball (11), USA May 16, 2008 Very much reminds me of Bell’s Hopslam with a little less kick to it.
Floral hoppy aroma, with a nice smooth finish. This is very well balanced and a very enjoyable beer. I will be buying it again. lightning9191 (82), Christiansburg, Virginia, USA May 16, 2008 This beer pours coppery with an inch of foam. The aroma is quite hoppy, which smells yummy! The flavor is dominated by hops, but a great malty finish. This beer is well balanced. The body is medium with medium carbonation. This is a great beer and will remain in my drinking rotation!!! IPALover (57), Carlsbad, California, USA May 13, 2008 Nice lighter IPA (i consider this more of a good pale ale). Reviewing this as a hoppy pale ale (not an IPA), I like the dryness of this beer and how that helps highlight the citric/floral notes of the hops in the beer. I’ve had the beer in bottle and on tap and prefer the tap as the cleaness and crisp hops come through better. This is a very nice pale ale!
Having brewed this beer as a homebrewer, I think it would improve with alittle more variety of hops (though love cents). I think I somehow underrated this beer the first time around. 10/4/9/5/17 (4.5/5)
Originally rated on 5/10/08. Bottle. Pours a light orange/amber with a thick white head. Aroma of floral, citrus hops (orange, grapefruit, lemon), and a slight hint of pine. Awesome, awesome aroma...it just beckons to you! Flavor of hops upfront, followed by sweet malt with some wheat notes at the finish. Also got some lemon zest. Perfectly balanced- the hops do not overdominate as they do in other IPAs. Mellow, super-drinkable, well-crafted. No bitter finish. Simply superb. 10/4/9/4/16 (4.3/5) cgarvieuk (4159), Edinburgh, Scotland May 10, 2008 Bottle at home ... bright golden orange ... very american piney hop nose ... bit over fizzy ... tart juicy resiny hops... ok but not great Trev (850), Lakeville, Minnesota, USA May 9, 2008 Updated: May 24, 2008pours a nice copper gold with a thick solid head.
Floral hop aroma (as advertised...though I won’t go so far as to say incredible)
Grapefruit-citrus flavour and floral tones in the flavour backed by a subtle malt presence.
Excellent IPA.
