17thfloor (1402), Chicago, Illinois, USA Apr 30, 2008 Updated: Jul 7, 2008Pours dark orange with a large frothy off-white head. Citrus hoppy aroma, grapefruit, very herbal. Very soft flavors. Some grapefruit, orange, mellow caramel malt, sweet and piney. Seems like the malts doesn’t add enough backbone. Light/med body with smooth but larger carbonation, slightly watery. An excellent made IPA very well balanced and drinkable, juicy. CanIHave4Beers (831), Des Moines, Iowa, USA Apr 29, 2008 The hop aroma is very strong on this beer, but this isn’t without some floral, citrus and cherry and yeast notes. The beer is very pretty with a large lasting fluffy white head, that leaves a good lace, the color is dark gold to light orange. Taste is a fantasic blend of hops with a little carmel sweetness at the back of the tongue. The beer is strongly bitter without too much citrus. GAManiac (1121), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Apr 28, 2008 Updated: May 8, 2008Poured a bright orange with a dense 2-finger foamy head that lingered for ages and left very good lacing. The slightest swirl sends the head back up to a finger. Nice. The fruits leapt out of the bottle at me - oranges, grapefruits, lemons, etc. A slight piny, grassy scent could be detected under the floral fruits, as well as a slightly sweet malt base. Clean, crisp taste that was dominated by the floral and citrus side of things. Quite a zing on the taste buds. I caught a little bit of the malt in the background, but not much. Zesty. Medium bodied with a decent clean finish with only the slightest bitterness in the aftertaste. This is a great example of an IPA, though it was probably a litle bit on the fruity side to be in my top few IPAs. Nonetheless, a well crafted brew from Bells. Miver (547), WillowStreet, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 28, 2008 A ton of 12oz bottles. Pours orangish gold in color with a off-white medium sized head with great lacing. Aroma is very floral with notes of grapefruit and citrus hops. Taste is of the same with a nice body, and a mild sweetness. Crisp finish and this is certainly very very drinkable. This is one of my favorite session IPA’s. EHopper (274), Minnesota, USA Apr 27, 2008 Updated: May 7, 2008Bright golden color. Beautiful. Close foam head. Grapefruit and cream soda aroma with a slight, sharp smell of hops. Flavor complements great aroma, crisp with a nice balance of bitter and sweet, very compelling, drinkable beer. Aftertaste actually adds to the experience, providing a great finish. Lothore (276), California, USA Apr 26, 2008 A- Pours a golden yellow hue with a 1.5 finger eggshell head which leaves a good amount of lacing when it fades. Not to much carbonation is visible.
S- Smells is prodomenately grapefruit and citrus hops, also there is a bready, malty backbone
T- Much more tame than I was expecting but in a good way. Exquisitely balanced grapefruit hops that end sweet and malty. I like this one because even though it has a defined hop presence, it really doesn’t overpower anything.
M- Medium bodied, with carbonation a little on the low side for my tastes but this doesn’t detract from the brew overall.
D- This is a hugely drinkable IPA. I love IPAs and DIPAs with the grapefruit/citrus hops and this one has that in spades. It’s well balanced but my only beef with it is theres nothing that really jumps out and grabs me about it. Would be great (and deadly) to session. peter48er (127), Liverpool, Merseyside, England Apr 26, 2008 Bottle from batch 8271, bought @ Knightly Spirits in Orlando and brought back to UK by good friend. Poured a lovely golden colour, with a good head and lively body. Lovely hoppy taste with a touch of sweetness. Not quite as ’ in your face’ as some of the very heavily hopped USA beers I’ve tasted but none the worse for that. An excellent beer. bag (103), Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 25, 2008 From mini keg! Poured yellow gold with medium white head. Aroma a beautiful hoppy citrus. Flavor was citrus and mild hops with a bit of a nice bite. Great beer.
