RichJ7 (1175), Cullman, Alabama, USA Apr 10, 2008 I keep hearing a lot about this beer, but I was underwhelmed. Maybe it was built up a bit much. Amber pour with a light tan head. Citrus and hops in the nose. Flavor is hoppy with a nice enough malt backbone, but it just seems like a one-note beer to me. It was just ok. blklab2007 (932), Connecticut, USA Apr 9, 2008 bottle poured a fairly hazed amber color with steady carbonation and a thick light tan head that coated the glass as it fell. aroma is nice sweet fruity hops, pepper bite, and thick caramel malt. flavor is all about the luscious hops but plenty of malted body to thicken it. such a well balanced flavor. finishes with hops resin coating the tongue and bitterness that lingers. really good drinking stuff that i wish were readily available near me. Tweety (337), Vancouver, Washington, USA Apr 9, 2008 12 oz. bottle. Damn good IPA, strong hops aroma and flavor. I can’t get enough of this stuff... siciliano (2), USA does not count Apr 8, 2008 Good earthy aroma, reminds me of fishing in the UP. Appeasing Michigan thick ale. mild after taste due to high alcohol and hop content, but would absolutely drink again. jeremyd365 (109), Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA Apr 7, 2008 I was first introduced to IPAs with this beer, and my appreciates and done nothing but grown for it.
It’s full of hops both smell and taste-wise. It’s only slightly bitter on the palette making it very drinkable.
It poured a dark orange with a solid head.
One of my favorite IPAs, and for the price, definitely one I like keeping always stocked. changeup45 (782), Orlando, Florida, USA Apr 7, 2008 Updated: Nov 18, 2008Re-rate 5/1/08. Pours a cloudy, orange color with a moderate sized off-white head. Aroma is very floral hoppy with citrus fruits. The hops are definitely citrusy sweet with some orange, grapefruit and lemon and a soft finish. Slight bitterness and rather easy drinking. I’d definitely get it again, thanks kissmybass for the sample! Re-rate 11/2/2008. Orange color, nice thick frothy head, lots of lacing. Floral hoppy aroma, subtle but nice. Citrus hoppy flavor, lemons, oranges, and a real tropical taste to this. Slightly bitter and dry. Not massively hopped but I like it, enough flavor and one of those beers you can drink just about anytime. stefanje (937), (Santee) San Diego, California, USA Apr 4, 2008 12 oz bottle courtesy of Linus stick. Pours an unfiltered hazy 18k gold color with an ample white head. The aroma is ripe with citrus fruits; lemon in the forefront with oranges and some grapefruit filling-in. The flavor is loaded with biter grapefruits, walnuts, caramel and cotton candy. The Mouthfeel was malty but just a bit thinner than i would have preferred. The finish was long with lingering cotton candy. Overall: This is a very drinkable IPA, one that goes down very easy, I love it. Thanks Linus. IPAGargoyleGuy (139), Troy, NY, New York, USA Apr 3, 2008 This beer is incredible. Different from IPA’s with biting hop bitterness as it has a citrusy and fruity flavor that blends very well with the hops. Balance is the key for this one.
