CapnCascade (116), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Aug 21, 2009 Hazy orange pour, full white head with moderate retention and some spotty lacing. Huge floral hop aroma with plenty of citrus and hints of grapes and grass clippings. Lots of spicy and citrusy hop flavors with a bit of malt sweetness and a long, peppery finish. Very pleasant, easygoing, sessionable mouthfeel with moderate carbonation. Really, really good stuff. thooper41 (384), Oregon, USA Aug 19, 2009 12oz bottle: appearance is medium brown with small white head, aroma filled with citrus style hops, flavor is again filled iwth citrus hops and also has a good malty backbone. Pretty good IPA. Hengest (4), Michigan, USA does not count Aug 19, 2009 Bell’s batch # 9233. I first tried this last year when actually in the U.P., and thought perhaps that my strongly positive first impression was tinged by relief at finding this solitary variety of Bell’s beer in the cooler floating in a sea of macros. While stocking up last week for my next trip north I purchased the above batch number and had to try some for quality control purposes. ... It is better even than I remembered. The color is nice, the aroma promising. Poured into a Bell’s pint glass there is about 2 1/2 inches of foam that subsides in about 2 minutes. An initial explosion of floral hops, but not at all out of balance the way some "extreme" hopped beers can taste. It finishes well, with some almost psychotropic tingling aftereffects on the tongue, and I had to immediately reproduce the experiment, just to make sure... HoppyAlesToYou (24), , Indiana, USA Aug 18, 2009 Hazy after the pour, this IPA smells fantastic. Nose candy for a hop head. The mouth feel is creamy and the finish smooth with a slight hop bitterness. Very well balanced, it can stand up in flavor to some double IPA’s and is as refreshing as an american pale ale. drowland (1337), Tallahassee, Florida, USA Aug 17, 2009 Have had from the bottle and on tap. A great balance shows as it warms... oh boy this is a wonderful IPA that everyone should look for when it comes around. otterdog1 (1), Camden, Ohio, USA does not count Aug 14, 2009 This beer wowed me.Not what I expected. After my first drink I thought of that region of Michigan because,The first thing you smell as you roll into north Michigan is the pine forests.I’ve always looked forward to and lingered on the first real Smell of the pine forest on every Vacation My family and I take there. This beer does kind of grow on you as you drink it.bitter and citrusy.Give it a try I believe you will grow to like it. Cybercat (778), Georgia, USA Aug 14, 2009 Pours a nice, slightly hazy golden amber with a fairly thick off-white head. Aroma is fairly strong and quite hoppy, promising a good IPA. Flavor is strongly hoppy but only slightly bitter and has just a whisper of sweetness. Texture is smooth and fizzy, quite lively on the tongue. Beerowulf (10), , Indiana, USA Aug 13, 2009 Amazing brew. Although Oberon is king amongst alot of my friends, this is the best Bell’s brew I’ve had. Can drink these again and again and still feels new and exciting.
Perfectly hoppy befitting it’s IPA style. Love the packaging.
Pours about half-finger head, great lacing and mouthfeel. Floral accents and a great bite to it. One of my favorites.
