3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 michael-pollack (4536) - King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, USA - APR 4, 2004
Smells hoppy and floral, though a bit metallic. Pours cloudy golden color, with small cream colored head. Nice lacing. Hoppy, creamy, citrusy, bitter flavor. Dry finish with a little sweetness. Easy and smooth to drink. Overall, a different, yet interesting and crisp IPA.
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 Dogbrick (4531) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - SEP 29, 2002
UPDATED: OCT 24, 2003 Rerate 10/21/03: After getting a sixer of Two Hearted this year, I have to bump the score up. This really is a top of the line IPA. 09/29/02 (3.8):There's hops it that there beer! This was a 'guest tap' at Barley's brewpub here in Columbus, and although I usually find it wrong to try beers outside of the brewpub where I am drinking, I'm glad I made an exception here. Cloudy orange color with a thin head. Strong hoppy, floral aroma. Hops dominate the flavor as well, bordering on the extreme. This beer will definitely keep your attention. Take a whiff of one of these during a boring meeting and you'll wake right up. You'll probably get fired but you'll be awake.

Cloudy, dirty orange-colored beer with a stellar foamy head. Nice pungent earthy aroma. Bountiful floral flavors -- orange rind tartness and spice. Beautiful beer.

UPDATED: SEP 7, 2005 Huge orange-pine-citrus hop nose with nice, soft, underlying doughy malt/yeast aroma. Hazy orange-tan with off-white, dense, lasting finger of head that sticks to the glass and excellent, fine-bubbled carbonation. Fruity and hoppy up front with pine-orange hop flavour and intense bitterness. Feels very clean in the mouth. There’s plenty of malts here to support all those hops but hoppiness overshadows a bit - though it works very well. Medium-light body. Refreshing. Bottle. Thanks, Silphium!
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 larsga (4435) - Oslo, NORWAY - AUG 19, 2006
Big offwhite coarse-ish head over hazy orange body with ongoing
carbonation. Deep, sweet, cookie-like malty aroma with hop notes so
harmoniously blended I can’t tell what the hops are like. Taste is
deep, spicy malts with a deep, bitter resiny hop background. Peas, and
grass as well. Bitter, resiny aftertaste. Very good, but slightly
lacking in complexity. If they added just a little to this it would be
an extraordinary beer. As a session beer this would be fantastic.
(0.355l bottle, thanks to gr0ve.)
3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 muzzlehatch (4425) - Burlington, Vermont, USA - DEC 27, 2002
On tap at the Old Chicago in Rockford, IL (relatively worthless chain pubs; 110 beers are almost all nationally available and half of them are macros). Decent, very bitter IPA; the hops are evident from the first spicy whiff, through the strongly bitter body and the long harsh finish. Body is hearty and strong, but overall malt is not present enough for me; unbalanced. Not one of Bells’ best IMHO.
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 riversideAK (4381) - Shoreline, Washington, USA - OCT 28, 2008
Aroma is of floral and citrus hops. Pours a nice vibrant orange gold with a lingering foamy head. Initially floral hop flavor followed by grapefruit and lemon notes. Malt is light and toasty and adds just enough balance. Highly quaff-able, enjoyable brew.
