4.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20 BBB63 (4939) - La Porte, Indiana, USA - OCT 12, 2003
2003: Clear golden hue with a creamy white head and very good lace. The aroma is piney and grapefruity hops with a touch of toasted malt and twangy yeast, very floral. Citrus and bitterness is at the forefront with nice undertone of sweetness. Dry and moderate bitter finish, very smooth for something with such a hop character. Another lovely brew from Bells. Highly recommended.

Bottle. Lime, tangerine, and pine hops aroma. Hazy orange-amber with moderate head and nice lacing. Sligntly sweet tangerine flavor quickly followed by moderate pine hops. Strange finish - after swallowing get a watery slightly metallic taste with pine hops returning a few seconds later. Nice that its flavor isn’t the typical orange grapefruit.

Bottle (12oz). Poured hazy gold, plenty of bubbles, large solid lasting foamy beige head. Sweet hoppy aroma - pine, grapefruit, apricot, pineapple and spruce, quite sharp - plus enough malt to make note of; there was a brief rush of yeast when I popped it. The taste is really muted - fruit and citrus/evergreen hops dominate, but are quite restrained - it does finish long, and bitter, but never aggressive; the malt is lightly toasted and also just murmurs along too. Mouthfeel is very creamy, lightly astringent, I felt it had solid body for an IPA. If you want a solid IPA but are reluctant to tackle the sharply high IBU Ruinations of the world, give this one a try. Recommended.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Drake (4803) - Charlottesville, Virginia, USA - JUN 17, 2008
Bottle from Wine Warehouse in Charlottesville, batch 8427. Cloudy orangeish amber color with a medium head and decent lacing. Sweet and citrusy hop aroma. Bitter and piney hops are nicely balanced.

Had this at the Clark St. Ale House in Chicago. On hand pump - my first one! Good and cool, not cold. The large white head faded to a small one that stayed around. Lots of lacing. The aroma had orange peel and flowers. The taste was tangerine and slightly sweet. This was a medium nouthfeel. Absolutely delicious.
4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Skyview (4739) - Papoose Jct, Minnesota, USA - OCT 7, 2007
Picked up single 12-oz bottle from Cellars Wine & Spirits in St Paul, MN. Pours a clear copper amber brew with a creamy white head that slowly dissolves to a fine film and white ring. Aroma of various citrus zest, caramel malt, and plenty of hops to go around. Taste is medium bodied, lightly carbonated with a strong pine/grapefruit flavor that overpowers any caramel malt flavors. Finish is citrusy and then a strong and lingering bitterness follows. A terrific West Coast IPA.
