India Pale Ale style well suited for Hemingway-esque trips to the Upper Peninsula. American malts and enormous hop additions give this beer a crisp finish and incredible floral hop aroma.

Hoppy hoppy hAppy... It’s what bell’s pale ale wishes it could be. Malty enough to appease the general audience. those hop heads such as I will agree, this is what old world pale’s should be, cold be, woud be... but this is the king of citurs/PINE/bitter

Nice orange-amber, dense creamy head, recedes slowly leaving nice lace. Aromas of fruit, flowers, ester, green pepper, and wet concrete. Fantastic huge hop bitterness. Slightly tart, fruity without being sweet, some moderate maltiness, but alcohol and hops are predominant. Mouthfeel is solid and fizzy, most refreshing but leaving a nice citrus aftertaste. The web site alludes to Hemingway, fishing, and Michigan’s Upper Peninsula outdoors experience. It all fits as I’d call this a real man’s man ale. Just big and brawny in every respect.

UPDATED: JAN 14, 2008 An amazing beer. Pours with a long lingering off white head. A hazy orange color with amazing fresh taste, great hops but extremely well balanced, a bit tiny bit of sweetness to match the hops. Lots of citrus tones in this one, which helps my scoring. This is a serious extremely complex beer, and I think might be my all-time favorite. Incredible.

This is the finest IPA I’ve ever tasted. It is so well made and such a refreshing change from the "sledgehammer" IPA’s that dominate the market. The aroma is reminiscent of hop perfume, absolutely perfect. The appearance can be a little cloudy, just age in the fridge for a week and pour straight out with no gurgling. The flavor just sings with American hops and a great malt backbone. Bitterness is just right. So well made and so well balanced, I don’t know how they do it. A definite must try.

UPDATED: OCT 30, 2005 Love this beer, Pours a yellowish amber color with a large slightly off white head. Very aromatic, lots citrus grapefruit and orange with a hint of pine and perhaps a bit floral. Medium bodied with a fruity citrus hop taste and perhaps some floral overtones with excellent balance, the malt then comes in and the finish is slightly sweet mixed with the complex hops. Texture is creamy with a touch of hop resin. This beer just puts a smile on my face and makes me feel good. Excellent! re-rated on 10/30 as the more I drink this nectur the more I like it.

UPDATED: APR 6, 2006 My first India Pale Ale! Has a very fruity, banana scent. Excellent to sup with. A fresh, fruity , and herbal (?) orange taste to it with a zing at the end. It does have a nostalgic taste to me! It reminded me of orange-flavoured medicine syrups I used to take when I was younger (no wonder I got better real quick!)! A highly recommended IPA! A special thanks to my friend and drinking mate Adam M. for the bottle!
