doppelmeup (49), Wake Forest, North Carolina, USA Apr 25, 2008 Poured into a pint glass.
Light amber, golden color. Great head with excellent sticky lacing all the way down the glass.
Citrusy, with aromas of ruby red grapefruit, and a hint of malt sweetness in the background and maybe some cut grass. This smells very fresh and springlike.
What a perfectly balanced beer. Lovely hops and fruit flavors perfectly balanced with a slightly sweet maltiness that perfectly compliments the hops. This is exceptional!
Smooth, refreshing, light on the palate yet full bodies. Clean aftertaste leaves you wanting more.
This is an exceptional beer, and one of the best American IPAs I’ve had. Delicious!
Dedollewaitor (1825), Odense, Denmark Jul 20, 2008 12oz bottle. Thanks to TheEpeeist. Pours hazy golden with a fine stable creamy white head & handsome lacings. Nose is hoppy - lots of fruity citrus & floral notes. Overall a hoppy IPA with just a touch of bready malts. Pine, grapefruit & citrus. Very fresh & crisp. Long lasting bitter end! This is quality! Very nice! RomanW70 (280), Providence, Rhode Island, USA Jul 20, 2008 Bottle thanks to Alobar! Probably the best IPA I’ve ever head. Aroma of grapefruits and pine. Beautiful combination of sweet malts, citrusy and earlthy pines. Has good, lasting bitterness but not over the top. An exceptionally well made beer. 2jayjay2 (2), Roseville, Michigan, USA does not count Jul 19, 2008 A top notch ipa with a slight citrusy finish and lingering hops at the end. A thoroughly tasteful example of the style. kosko20 (21), Bemidji, Minnesota, USA Jul 16, 2008 Thought I had rated this one. Similar in some ways to Hopslam, just not as beautiful as it. Definitely an easy beer to drink, has great hoppy flavor and good bitterness. jlf278 (210), Hoboken, New Jersey, USA Jul 15, 2008 On draft, had a simply breathtaking aroma - tons of pine, some citrus, just a real breath of fresh air and was a good introduction for the flavors soon to come. Appearance was pretty good, a nice dark ipa burnt amber. Flavor is quite bitter, too bitter, but pleasant - 12 oz. took me a while to finish. Palate was great as usual with Bell’s. Overall, just a great beer when you’re in the mood for something extra hoppy and powerfully bitter. Perfect for summertime sipping.
