3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Draft from Brewery. Served in a tulip glass, the bartender created a nearly perfect pour with the inch thick off-white head touching the brim of the glass, above its medium brown body. This brew has a sweet, almost milk chocolate nose. On the hoppy side for a doppelbock, this beer is nicely balanced, smooth and warming. Very tasty.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
My Bottom Line:
Candied fruit dominates this silky Doppelbock, licked by alcohol warmth and mild bitterness.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A sheet of foam drapes the clear red.
-The fruitiness is a bit too present for my tastes in Doppelbock. Bready, caramelized cereals are sadly too shy.
-The finish is balanced.
-This one lacks malt depth for the style, which is surprising since most Two Roads beers I’ve had, even the Pils, was very well developed on the malt front.
On tap at the brewery taproom.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours bright mahogany into a stem glass. Off-white micro head with excellent retention recedes leaving scant sheets. Dark dried fruit and caramel aromas. Soft with sweet caramel and toffee upfront turning warming in the lasting roasted nutty and mildly cloying bitter finish.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
A copper body with a quickly fading beige head. Aroma had a great mix of caramel malts and some toasted malts, there was a subtle fruity notes to it a touch of brown sugar and maybe some vanilla. Flavor was mostly sweet a heavy caramel malt base with some fruity sweetness. Alcohol seemed restrained. Nice mouth feel. A good beer.

22oz. Bomber: This one pours a clear, darker coppery/amber color. There was a finger of tan head that didn’t linger long. Some lacing. Nice nose. Lots of caramel malts, but the sweetness is somewhat subdued. Getting some faint fruits, spiciness and a bit of earthiness. The taste is good. Just a bit sweet, with a hint of dryness in the finish. Caramel malts, hints of spice and some dark fruits. This is nice.

Description on the bottle is wildly inaccurate. Hops overwhelm whatever malt or other flavors are in this beer. Sadly, this is becoming a trend in American beers. Nice color though. Very disappointing for this style.
