wiosna (271) - - DEC 25, 2014
0,65 pullo from Boston. Lähes kirkas meripihkan ruskea, jotenkin siirappisen näköinen vaikkei öljyinen juurikaan. Tuoksussa makeaa mallasta, karamellia, hiukan alkoholia, mausteita, vähän kanelia, muskottipähkinää, humalaa. Maussa pehmeää, hieman paahteista mallasta, hitunen hiivaa, humalaa, mausteita.

mcox90 (1590) - Wilton, New Hampshire, USA - DEC 18, 2014
22 oz. bottle from Julio’s. Poured a clear amber/red with a one finger beige head. Spotty, at best, lace. Light aromas of nutmeg, cinnamon, fruit and mild Belgian yeast. Light caramel malt base with hints of the spices found in the aroma. Hints at sweetness. On the thin side. Could use a bit more body.

AirForceHops (3531) - Epping, New Hampshire, USA - DEC 13, 2014
650 ml bottle shared by friends. Brand new 2014 vintage. Darker ruby color, thin white head. Aroma is cinnamon, nutmeg and Christmas like spice with a thin amount of caramel.

Flavor is thin and all over the place. Traces of yeast with a malty base for the body. Yet it really is on the watery side. Spices come in on the finish, and give very minimal balance for the malt and yeast. Ummmm... Yeah, ok.

Amber color with some average lacing. Aroma of malt and faint cinnamon spice. Starts with a malty caramel note with barely a hint of holiday spice and a split second of sweet and boozy cheer. Then it quickly washes out into a rather bland, watery ending with an ever-so-slight hop bitterness. It feels like a light holiday ale that could be consumed in larger doses than your standard heavier holiday ale. Not sure what to make of it. A good job masking the 7% octane rating, and it is a holiday ale more than anything else, but it is very unique. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Sweet candy malt aroma. Orange color worth a medium tan head. Sweet beginning with a light bitter finish. Hints of sweetness lat until the end.

22oz. bottle: This one pours a clear, coppery amber color. There was a small off white head that didn’t leave much lacing. The nose is good. A bit spicy: nutmeg and cinnamon, clove, faint malts. The flavor is quite good. A but bready and malty, with some of the spices in there. A faint earthiness to it. I’ll be looking for this again next year.

Crisp amber and copper coloured body with a thin, one centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of nuts, earth, caramel, toffee, toasted malt, light apples and pears and some light yeast. Medium-bodied; Assertive yeast and malt flavour with a light medicinal and sharp metallic flavour and some assertive grain and deep squash bitterness at the end. Aftertaste shows some depth with more malt and caramel coming out, but there is a big deal of the flavours that are just up in the air, plain bitter and not very enjoyable while others are simply mild and underwhelming. Overall, a pretty poor offering with not real flavours, no complexity, no style definition and not enjoyable at all. This definitely was NOT a biere de garde and was more like an amber ale than anything else, and not a good one at that. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Stop & Save Liqours in Newtown, Connecticut on 27-November-2013 for US$5.99 sampled at home in Washington on 24-February-2014.
