A hefty Black Ale with profound malt and hop complexity. Neither Stout nor Porter, it will be its own thing – full-bodied, bold and black. Flavor characteristics of dark chocolate, mocha, molasses and dark fruits. Balanced by piney citrusy notes of Pacific Northwest hops. Full-bodied and uncommonly satisfying at 7.5% alcohol.

Interesting beer that bridges a few styles. Kind of like an earthy piney hopped porter. Some chocolate a bit of ash and earthy roastyness with a piney herbal hoppiness.

Bottle thanks to secret Santa 2016. Pours a deep brown color with about two fingers of creamy brown head. Heavy sheet lacing. Aroma is roasty, piney, chocolatey… off to a great start. Taste is roasty, bitters, and light cocoa sweetness. Finish is a little dry, some pine. Maybe a little on the thin side, but overall it’s solid.

Taste bud confusion. Sweet forward. No coffee. ☕️sorry. Definitely citrus and slight pine. Label has a reference to snow but illustration is of a clown and it's not winter. Well winter is coming! A black ale should be chocolate. Would you not agree? ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Can at our hotel tasting, Anchorage, courtesy of Travlr via Adam. Pours dark black with a medium, frothy beige head, medium retention with good lacing. Aroma is roast and coffee malt, dark chocolate, prunes, herbal and minty hops. Flavor is bitter dark roast malt, prunes, moderate herbal and earthy hops and bitterness with a dry finish. Bottle from colonial Spirits Dark brown with garnet at the edges tan foam on top. Earthy roasty somewhat on the harsh bitter side of things. Decent Black IPA.

Dark pour with dark brown head. Slightly sweet malty and fruity citrus hop aroma. Flavor is chocolate roast and then fruity hop finish. Very nice combination of flavors.
