A hefty Black Ale with profound malt and hop complexity. Neither Stout nor Porter, it will be its own thing – full-bodied, bold and black. Flavor characteristics of dark chocolate, mocha, molasses and dark fruits. Balanced by piney citrusy notes of Pacific Northwest hops. Full-bodied and uncommonly satisfying at 7.5% alcohol.

Interesting beer that bridges a few styles. Kind of like an earthy piney hopped porter. Some chocolate a bit of ash and earthy roastyness with a piney herbal hoppiness.

Bottle courtesy of Adam of Somalia and his father, thank you gentlemen! Pure black, brownish beige head with good retention and solid lacing. Aroma of bright pone and fresh chocolate milk. Taste is roasty coffee, biter cocoa, bitter finish. Very tasty.

Bottle poured a black in color with a thick coating of sturdy brown head. Aroma has dark malt, chocolate, and a dose of hops. Mouth feel is medium and the carbonation average. Flavor certainly has a lot of hops, dark malt, and some bitterness. More like a black barley wine.

Bottle thanks to Guinn at a tasting. Pours a dark brown to black. One finger of tan head. Highly hopped. An odd style hopping seems overdone. Decent beer. Too hoppy.

Bottle shared at Craft Ale House with my good friend boxofrane. Pours hazy black with khaki head. Nose was resiny hops, dark malt, cacao. Tasted very hoppy, with a nicely balanced dark malt flavor, and a creamy, smooth finish.

Black-licorice with much more head than liquid initially, settling down to an inch of plumy, light, dough-colored carbonation that lingers awhile. Aroma is salty sap on top of mineral and evergreen forest with metallic earth. Some roast and cedar. A bit intense. Body is actually rather light, a bit watery and dry, with a thin, diffuse, and delayed carbonation tingle. A bit hot on the exhale. Flavor is tree-bark, grass and leaf, some roasted wood and minerals. Bits of mint and sawdust as it warms. Overall, a bit single-minded, needs some diversity between the flavor and aroma, as well as some maltier elements. palate could use refinement. Love the head. Nice for CT :)
