COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A traditional farmhouse ale made with a very expressive yeast strain that contributes an array of tropical fruit, spice flavors and aromatics. Brewed with a variety of harvest grains including barley, wheat, oats and rye as was likely the case with farmhouse brewers of yore. The result is a complex, refreshing and distinctive example of this esoteric style. Intensely fruity (passion fruit, pineapple, mango, lychee), slightly spicy (clove, white pepper)

The Sampler, Brooklyn 12oz ($2.50): Pours golden with a white head. Aroma is slight farmhouse funk with some fruitiness in there. Basically, it smells and tastes like a light saison. Everything is in place. It isn’t all that tangy, but is nice and dry and all farmhousey. Got some of that spice and pepper up in there. Not bad.

Tap @ Beer Temple (taster size). Pale blonde color, hazy/cloudy. Dense white head with good retention. Aroma’s: citrus, sour fruit, a bit dusty, grainish. A bit of caramel retronasal as well. Flavor is light sweet (caramel) with a hint of bitterness. Light bodied. A bit dry finish with a light earthy bitterness.

On tap at the BeerTemple. Hazy very pale gold pour with very lacy white head. Aroma is grainy, really spicy, light tropical fruits, wheaty, grains of paradise. Taste is grainy, really spicy, a bit too sweet, slightly cloying. Palate is medium bodied with light-med carbonation, sweet. Not bad, but pretty off style IMO.

Phil Markowski’s new venture! Two Roads - I like the reference to the Frost poem - it is probably the only poem that I can recite from memory, btw!. The beer looks about average, and the labels are OK. This had an interesting aroma - sweet and creamy with floral notes, along with lemon, yeast, and clove. It is a dry, nuttly saison with a Belgian influence. It is made with four different grains, there are notes of pineapple and clove, and the hops are not ignored. The finish is close to that of an APA. It is more like the kind of thing I would expect to find on draft at a creative brewpub than in a bottle.
