Pours black with a medium smooth looking tan head. Aroma consists of a balanced mixture of chocolate and coffee. Taste has more chocolate over the coffee, along with some spices underneath that come out more at the end. Aftertaste is coffee along with that spicy flavor. Medium bodied with a slick, smooth texture. Although nothing jumps out at me here, this one is still a solid offering.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours dark brown with some red in it. Smell is malty with a little spice to it taste is good in itís a very good Porter does a little bit of the chipotle comes thru but mainly malt. I thought it would be a more experimental brew, but the smokiness and the pepper add a subtle presence and complexity that makes it a solid porter. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Not really picking much in terms of the pepper smell, itís pretty faint. Smoke smell also not that obvious. Taste is slightly smokey, more roasted malts than anything else though. Having a tough time finding any peppers in this beer, but it does seem to have a bit of a peppery note to it.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle. Pours a clear dark brown body, almost black, with a small fizzy light brown head that receded to a thin ring. The nose is quite thick and rich, lots of licorice, molasses, chocolate, some espresso, and a light hint of chipotle peppers. Smells like a really rich chocolate torte dessert. The flavor is just as rich and delicious with a sweetness that really works super well with the whole flavor profile. Lots of licorice and chocolate fudge like notes, just a light accent of the peppers on the finish. Full bodied and chewy with perfect soft minimal carbonation. This is really a great beer, and right in my sweet spot for a flavored porter.

Bottle. Dark brown pour with tan head. Smells of toasted malts and chocolate. Starts sweet with a smokey, dark chocolate bitter finish. Maybe a touch of pepper aftertaste. Good beer.

On tap. Sweet, full mouthfeel with a perfect level of smokiness. I honestly could not detect any chipotle at all in this, but itís still a very good smoked porter.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
12 oz. bottle courtesy of Queenholly. Deep brown color with tiny white head. Nose is nice. Heavy roasted chocolate malts with a tad bit of pepper zest. Initial flavor starts with rich roasted malt followed by a light smoke. After the mild smoke you can pick up just a hint of chipotle. The finish comes with more roasted malt. Body is stout like and leaning on the full side. I paired this with my chicken enchilada dinner and it worked really well. I was happily surprised by this brew. Real quaffable.
