3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Thorpe429 (4844) - , Illinois, USA - MAR 22, 2011
Reviewed from notes.
Pours a nice copper color. Lots of citrus, rye, and caramel. Great hop notes all around. The taste is a bit of bread and spicy rye. All this underneath a very nice citrus hop presence. Good body with some zest. With this and others, I’m really disappointed I left Chicago right as Tyranena was coming in.

Got this via trade with wnoble. 12 oz. bottle into a standard pint glass. An aggressive pour yields a reddish-copper with a one-inch head which quickly dissapates into a creamy coating and minimal sticky lacing. Nose reveals the expected rye, some floral and earthy notes as well as some sweeter ones of citrus and brown sugar. The taste is some citrus, spice (peppery), caramel and rye. The finish is dry and mildly bitter but its the rys and pepper that pervades. Mouthfeel is medium, a little slick and oily and with light to medium carbonation. This is a respectable IPA that isn’t like every other, but not one I would fight to get again.

Bottled. Excellent east coast IPA. Bright, crunchy body, piney hops, a slightly sweet tang in the finish. Nice even bitterness, perfect body.
2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 Nate (3327) - Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 4, 2010
From bottle courtesy of dpjuart. Hoppy nose, herbal with pine resin, caramel, buttery. A little oxidized? Diacetyl. Deep golden amber clear with thin white head. Medium body with medium carbonation. Starts sweet with apple, butter, and light oxidation notes. Can’t detect any rye, however. Not bad, but not that special. I was expecting more. Bitter finish and after.

Bottle courtesy The Bearded Brewer. Pours amber orange with little head. Buttery nose, mild hop. Mild bitter, bread, piny hop flavor, dry and clingy. Seems iffy, like diacetyly. eh.

lucent copper, thin white head, highly effervescent.
aroma: caramel, citrus hops.
taste:
T1= caramel, rye.
T2= bitter citrus hops, co2.
T3= bitter hop oil, rye spiciness.
the rye spiciness is good, but leaves me desiring a richer and deeper malt character.
