COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Rob so enjoyed the rye component of Dirty Old Man that we decided to brew an IPA with it as well. We’ll be amping up the gravity, as well as the flavoring and aroma hops (relative to Bitter Woman).

Bottle from Archer Liquors. Pours amber with a little beige head. Aroma is strongly malty with a fair amount of hop. Medium body with chewy, creamy carbonation. Flavor is more rye malt than not, and the hop is quite floral and fruit. Rye seems to help cut the malt, and the hop helps there too. Got a good taste in the finish. Dry, astringent, bitter. Very good beer.

A: A 12 oz. bottle poured into a pint glass reveals a hazy amber color with a small off-white head. S: The smell features a lot of tropical fruit and citrus. There is a fair amount of pineapple, mango, and grapefruit. There is also a sweet caramel flavor, along with a mild spiciness on the malt side of things. T: Despite this beer being several months old, there is still a surprising amount of hop character. The flavor has a very nice bitterness and a mild citrus. The rye lends this beer a nice spicy flavor to go along with the bready malt. M: The body is a bit thin, but not terrible. The carbonation is moderate. D: This is one of the better IPAs I’ve had from outside of CA, even at its age. A nice beer that I’m glad I got a chance to try.

Bottle shared shigadeyo. Poured a clear brown color with an average creamy white head that was mostly lasted and had good lacing. Medium to heavy ciitrus hop and rye aroma. Medium body with slick texture and soft carbonation. Moderate to heavy bittersweet flavor with a medium to heavy bittersweet finish of moderate duration. Good complex brew and standout for style.

Bottle. Pours clear amber with an average, rocky off-white head, somewhat lasting with good lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (cookie, cereal, meal), heavy hop (flowers, citrus, pine), average yeast (sweat, dough) with notes of alcohol, apple, pear, peach, and pineapple. Medium bodied, sticky texture, lively carbonation, and a bitter finish. Long duration, light sweetness, heavy acidity and bitterness.

Bottle… October ’09 O-Town Throwdown... Clear yellow ale with a small, fizzy, white head. The aroma presents black tea, caramel, resin and spicy rye. Full-bodied with medium carbonation. The flavor tilts toward the bitter side of balance, but provides nice malty, grainy essences of caramel and rye. Bittersweet, dry finish. Bottle provided by juiceisloose

12 ounce bottle shared by CrellMoset. Thanks! Pours an amber color with a thin head. Good head retention and lacing. Aroma of big floral hops with citrus, sweet malts and a lightly peppery finish. Taste is bitter rye notes lending to a peppery, spicy vibe along with citrus and herbal hop notes and light caramel. Fairly dry and spicy. Medium-full bodied. Nice beer.
