Rob so enjoyed the rye component of Dirty Old Man that we decided to brew an IPA with it as well. Well be amping up the gravity, as well as the flavoring and aroma hops (relative to Bitter Woman).

A: A 12 oz. bottle poured into a pint glass reveals a hazy amber color with a small off-white head. S: The smell features a lot of tropical fruit and citrus. There is a fair amount of pineapple, mango, and grapefruit. There is also a sweet caramel flavor, along with a mild spiciness on the malt side of things. T: Despite this beer being several months old, there is still a surprising amount of hop character. The flavor has a very nice bitterness and a mild citrus. The rye lends this beer a nice spicy flavor to go along with the bready malt. M: The body is a bit thin, but not terrible. The carbonation is moderate. D: This is one of the better IPAs Ive had from outside of CA, even at its age. A nice beer that Im glad I got a chance to try.

Bottle from Archer Liquors. Pours amber with a little beige head. Aroma is strongly malty with a fair amount of hop. Medium body with chewy, creamy carbonation. Flavor is more rye malt than not, and the hop is quite floral and fruit. Rye seems to help cut the malt, and the hop helps there too. Got a good taste in the finish. Dry, astringent, bitter. Very good beer.

This beer pours a hazy amber color with a medium off-white head that recedes steadily. Strings of lacing on the glass. The aroma consists of fruit, leather and hops. Medium-bodied with flavors of citrusy hops, spicy rye and pine. The finish is moderately bitter with a fruity hops and spicy grain aftertaste. Above average overall.
