Bottle thanks to Eric. Pours a very dark brown with paperthin head that diminishes to nothing. The aroma is roasted malt and chocolate. Sweet roast and light chocolate with light bitter finish. Good.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Slutfest 2013: Tobacco and rye bread aroma. Cola colored, thick tan head. Flavor transitions from tobacco to ash to creosote. Fairly nice, but has a tanginess that seems very out of place for this style of beer. It’s ok.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Sampled at Slutfest 4 - Sexytime! Dark brown pour with ring of tan head. Malty roasty and hint of marshmellow and molasses. Sweet and semi whiskey note, but totally smooth. Pretty good.

Pours black, brown at edges. Aroma is lightly of chocolate and coffee. Flavor is similar. Bit of vanilla on the finish. Just a touch rough. But not bad at all.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Smells like whiskey. No bite, very smooth. Well balanced for a barrel aged beer. Woody smell in the aroma.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Old rating from 2010. Pours super dark opaque black/brown with almost no head just a little tan ring. Big rye barrel nose, sweet dark malt, coconut. Less rye barrel in the taste, lots of sweet dark malt with a dry finish. Medium body with nice fine carbonation...a smooth drinker.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20
12 oz. bottle. Pours a thin rapidly dissipating, beige head, over a clear, very dark brown (SRM 35) body....nose is light Whiskey, chocolate, light coffee, hints of vanilla.....taste is light Whiskey, chocolate, rye spice, medium lingering toffee/caramel sweetness, finishing with a moderate hop, roasted malt bitterness....mouth feel medium, soft, slightly chewy, mildly astringent, alcohol hidden, carbonation adds light tingle. This is a well balanced beer. The Whiskey barrels were used with a light hand, and add depth rather than dominating. The malts are deftly used with the heavy chocolate, cocoa tones offset by minor coffee at the finish. The rye adds that bit of mysterious complexity. The only flaw is the moderate, but lingering sweetness. This is a lovely beer. BJCP 8/3/14/4/7

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
12oz bottle, thanks to alexdad06 for sharing. Aged at least a few years in his cellar, I believe. Black / dark red but clear color. Good thin brown head. Some dots of lace. Nice mild whiskey nose. Medium body, a bit thinner than I’d expect for an 8% porter. Very light carbonation, and dry texture. Flavor is a little light for what this is described as. Mild toasty malts, some light chocolate malt, little wood barrel, not as much whiskey as I expected in the flavor, more subtle, but still noticeable. I feel like the flavor may have fallen off a bit, but it’s still a solid, enjoyable imperial porter. Light bittersweet, alcohol not really noticeable. It’s a very unique flavor and texture for the style, never really had anything like this that I can think of.
