12/24/12. 12oz bottle thanks to cbfobes! Deep brown pour with a nice tan head that cuts and laces a bit. Lots of cocoa with more chocolate, some coffee, cream, and a touch of booziness. Lightly sweet chocolate entry with a boozy touch of whiskey but not a ton of complex barrel character. Lingering roasty dryness with more chocolate. Not bad!

December 13, 2012 bottle from binnys. Very dark brown pour with nice amount of head. Aroma was coffee, spice/rye, whiskey and wood. Coffee and spice seem to dominate taste with just a hint of the whiskey. Finish was a little bit thin though.

12 oz bottle courtesy of elkhunter. Thanks. Pours a dense black-brown color with a minimal beige head that quickly morphs into a fine ring around the glass. The aroma is murky with licorice, chocolate and molasses. The flavor is similar to the nose, chocolates, raisins, plums, mocha and a touch of anise. The palate is full and creamy smooth with soft carbonation. Finishes long and dry with lingering dark bitter chocolates. Overall: Top shelf.

Bottle - pours jet black with a cola brown head that leaves a creamy sheet of foam on the glass when consumed. Has a roasty malt flavor and some mocha chocolate overtones. Has a cream body and mouthfeel. Excellent!

12oz bottle poured into an imperial pint glass. Pours black with a small light brown head that fades quickly leaving little lacing. Huge aroma with a lot going on, (maybe too much). Rye, oak, whiskey, roasted malts, coffee, vanilla and chocolate. Taste is strong rye up front with a very malty base. The whiskey barrel adds a huge character to this, bringing a smoky vanilla and caramel blend to the taste. You can definitely taste the oak and the whiskey, but neither overwhelms. This is a very complex brew! Finishes with a smoky coffee and chocolate taste, and the unmistakable slightly bitter whiskey burn. Thick and creamy palate with a moderate amount of carbonation. A fine sipping after dessert beer. Would go well with a good cigar.

Bottle poured a clear dark reddish brown nearly black with a small lasting brown head. Aromas of roastiness, dark chocolate, rye, oak, carmel and light whiskey. Palate was medium to full bodied and smooth. Flavors of roastiness, oak, dark chocolate, rye, light carmel and light whiskey with a smooth lingering roasty chocolate finish.

Black color with no light, very little head noted. Aroma is a beautiful whiskey barrel with very mild rosted malts. Mild smokiness. You can really taste the whiskey in the barrel. One of the best barrel aged beers I have tasted thusfar. Mouthfeel is very heavy for a porter, a GREAT thing!
