>> Clear deep cola pour, okay foam. Nose is alcohol, soy, rum, brown sugar. Taste is sweet maple and brown sugar, medium body, big sugary density. Sweet and stickier body. Okay. Alcohol presence seems higher than abv suggests.

Sampled at DLD 2014. It poured a black color with a small tan head. The aroma was moderately sweet, with bourbon, vanilla and light cocoa. The taste was moderately sweet, with some roastiness, vanilla, earthy and a faint alcohol burn. Nice.

Bottle from JCWattsRugger. Pours near black with no head. Light sweetness, some bourbony and vanilla notes, lighter roasted malts, and hints of chocolate. Not over the top. Good stuff.

Bottle poured a clear dark reddish brown with a small lasting creamy tan head. Aromas of milk chocolate, vanilla, bourbon, light roastiness and light coffee. Palate was medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of milk chocolate, vanilla, roastiness, light bourbon and a hint of licorice with a smooth lingering chocolate finish.

Bottled Nov 4, 2010 A: Pours dark/black ale with little to no translucency. Small, transient light latte head falls away within seconds. The head falls to, well, broken and spotty surface foam. No lacing. S: Lots of chocolate, milk chocolate. Coffee is subdued yet present. The vanilla is a good accent to the rest of the beer. Bourbon is sweet, subtle and nice. Plenty of rye bread base malts. Biscuit flavors. T: Again, quite a bit of milk chocolate flavors here, very sweet. Biscuits, vanilla much more up front in the beer. The coffee seems like is comes through on the back end and resonates. The beer is really, really sweet. As the beer warms, the bourbon comes through with a vengeance. M: Thick yet hollow, interesting. Moderate to high carbonation for the style. O: Nice beer. The amount of modifications from the style makes it more of a novelty to me, but nonetheless delicious. I can say if this was local to me, I would make a batch of brownies with this beer. Serving type: bottle 05-11-2011

Bottle as an extra in VSB trade. Really surprised in a good way with this one. Great mix of medium-heavy mouthfeel, good carb, discernible flavors of bourbon, dark chocolate, slight coffee, vanilla, etc. Great beer with a great presentation. Not much not to love.

This beer is one the most expertly fined Imperial Stouts out there. Although light in the ABV category, this beer leaves much for those who drink their beer more for taste than effect. The bourbon/vanilla balance in this beer is as good as it gets. If you like your stouts fined to the highest level, I highly recommend this fantastic stout.

Very dark brown, almost black, with thin brown lacing. Roasted coffee beans, chocolate, caramel, some vanilla, and toasted malt. A bit too sweet, strong lactose taste. Smooth but thin, not quite full-bodied. Small alcohol presence in the coffee-filled finish.
