Aroma is fairly malty with a lot of floral hops and only a hint of citrus. The malt aroma has quite a bit of caramel an some darker biscuit. There is also a hint of alcohol. The hop aroma is definitely floral perfume with a hint of citrus and resin. Pouts a clear amber- copper with hints of gold. There is a fairly thick off white head that has good retention and lacing. Medium small legs. Flavor is similar to the aroma with quite a bit of caramel and biscuit malt notes. The hop notes are a bit fruitier than in the aroma but are definitely quite floral. The flavor has a stronger citrus, especially grapefruit note as well as more resin. The finish has a bit of a tropical fruit note as well as some floral character. A light alcohol flavor in the finish. The bitterness is fairly smooth and not very aggressive. Mouthfeel is medium bodied and fairly silky with medium low carbonation. The alcohol warmth is moderate and astringency is very low. This beer is fairly easy drinking, but definitely not my preferred style of IPA. It strikes me more as a very hoppy red or amber ale. I also prefer a different hop profile, but this beer isn't bad or unclean by any means. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

I am rating this beer in comparison to other Imperial IPAs, which I would have to say this is not. I think this beer has more in common with a barleywine style like Lagunita’s Brown Shugga, as opposed to an Imperial IPA. The name is misleading; it has almost no hoppyness to it whatsoever. Being in California, we do not get Tyranena out here, and I ordered it from a company in Illinois. I am used to West Coast styles of IPA such as Stone Enjoy By, Russian River’s Pliny the Elder and Firestone’s Union/Double Jack. Those beers are more traditional IPA with a strong hoppy flavor, bite, and substance. Those beers pour with an orangish hue and have a impressive and powerful aroma. Imperial IPAs kick it up a notch and typically pour browner than regular IPA. They keep the hop flavoring, but lose some of the aroma. Hop Whore is neither of these descriptions. It pours brown, like a barleywine style. It has a sweet and strong molasses odor, and tastes like sorghum and yeast. I don’t get any hoppyness from this at all, which really makes me question the name. If this were described as a barleywine, it would be more appropriate, but lacks the oomph to compete with beers on that level. This beer is really a conundrum to me as I don’t know how to classify it, but it is a terrible Imperial IPA.

From 12 oz bottle but have had it on draft also. Aroma of burnt citrus orange. White head and pour a dark orange. Has citrus spruce mixed with orange taste. Hits the palate with a heavy bitterness at the front end and carries toward the back of your mouth with some resin. Very good effort for a Wisconsin Ipa in which this area is not known for imperial Ipa’s.

12oz bottle pours a clear somewhat dark amber with an off-white head and nice lacing. Aroma is caramel, mild perfume, malt, and a little hop. Flavor is a bit resiny bitter with a warm finish. Ok

Bottle from Ware House Liqour, Chicago. Clear deep golden beer with a nice lasting offwhite head. Malty bready aroma, caramel, perfume, kinda aggressive hops. Hoppy caramel flavor, onions, bready, cream, some grapes. I did not like this one very much.

Bottle pour into snifter glass from Belgium. Copper color slightly deeper hue than expected. Smell is really good...hops with some sweetness. Taste has some resin elements and a good deal of hops. Definite backbone of malt. Dries out the mouth while covering the palette. Probably worth a romp despite the STD risk.

Lijkt redelijk op de La Trappe Oak Aged. Heerlijk aroma en mooie schuimkraag. Een bijna perfecte afdronk.

Not a big fan of IPAs, but the name had me interested. A very earthy flavor, deep red appearance, and add an earthy aroma. OK for the the style.

A very good ipa from Tyrrhenian. Super hoppy and nicely bitter. Smells hoppy and had this one at home ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

One of the more multi IPAs. Very similar to a victory hop Devil. I prefer the more classic West Coast IPAs. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
