3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 undsioux7 (764) - Eden Prairie, Minnesota, USA - OCT 19, 2007Pours deep clear amber. The aroma wasn’t as strong as I expected. What hop aroma that was there was nice though. Had a nice pine and citris taste, but felt a little thin.
It just occoured to me that the grimreeser served this to me mighty cold, so I blame him. I will have to try again at a more servable temperature.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 kcorum10 (94) - Arizona, USA - MAY 20, 2013
Pours a red/bronze color with practically no head at all. Aromas of resin with a flavor that is much of the same. Has some sweet malt flavors as well. Something to me is missing here and I can’t place it. I feel this doesn’t live up to it’s name.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20 mnmike (609) - Minnesota, USA - MAR 25, 2013
Aug. 2012 bottle date cracked in March 2013. Lots of hop sediment which is good in my book. Low aromas likely due to the aging. Thick head with lacing. I’ll try this fresh next August.

12 oz. bottle Courtesy of Queenholly. My English pint is displaying a hazy mahogany color. No head or lace. I love the name of this brew!! Great creativity. Yet, with a name like that I was expecting a blast of hops on every level. Well… it’s lots of malt sweetness. On the nose is light hoppyness with lots of caramel. Light weak fruit. I’m really thinking I got a old bottle because the “Dripping with luscious hop flavor” as the commercial description implies really is nowhere to be found. Medium to full bodied with lots of sweetness. Syrupy texture. If this is a summer or spring release; this is old for sure. I was actually in the mood for a hoppy beer tonight. Oh well, I imagine this would be a beast on draft.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Scipio (490) - Palatine, Illinois, USA - MAR 11, 2013
Pours a deep, slightly cloudy red with a white head. Aroma is strong and complex. There are strong caramel malty impressions, but there are strong fruity notes of orange and mango, as well as some pine. The taste is dominant in the fruity notes. There are a lot of orange and berry flavors, but they aren’t over the top since they are caramel malts to balance it out. Pine is lesser, and I get hints of grapefruit as well, which appear more after the initial sip. Aftertaste is caramel, pine, and grapefruit. Full bodied, thick in texture, with softer carbonation, especially considering what you expect from this style. This one has a lot going on. I usually like these, but some of this here doesn’t agree with me.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 backdaft (137) - Menasha Red Light District, Wisconsin, USA - MAR 10, 2013
Bottle. Pours a brownish amber color with a thin beige head. Watch out for the sediment. Tropical fruit sweetness and caramel malt aromas. Flavor is on par; tropical fruit, sweet caramel malts, and lingering pine bitterness. Big, full bodied, and somewhat alcoholic. This IIPA delivers a real punch.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 wlajwl (2901) - Quad Cities, Iowa, USA - FEB 8, 2013
Aroma is clean citrus/pine and mild sweetness. The flavor is citrus, grapefruit, biscuit malts and a very bitter/mildly tangy finish.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 ineedbeer (183) - San Leandro, California, USA - FEB 5, 2013
Aroma is fairly malty with a lot of floral hops and only a hint of citrus. The malt aroma has quite a bit of caramel an some darker biscuit. There is also a hint of alcohol. The hop aroma is definitely floral perfume with a hint of citrus and resin.
Pouts a clear amber- copper with hints of gold. There is a fairly thick off white head that has good retention and lacing. Medium small legs.
Flavor is similar to the aroma with quite a bit of caramel and biscuit malt notes. The hop notes are a bit fruitier than in the aroma but are definitely quite floral. The flavor has a stronger citrus, especially grapefruit note as well as more resin. The finish has a bit of a tropical fruit note as well as some floral character. A light alcohol flavor in the finish. The bitterness is fairly smooth and not very aggressive.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied and fairly silky with medium low carbonation. The alcohol warmth is moderate and astringency is very low.
This beer is fairly easy drinking, but definitely not my preferred style of IPA. It strikes me more as a very hoppy red or amber ale. I also prefer a different hop profile, but this beer isn't bad or unclean by any means.

4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 Garito793 (226) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - DEC 29, 2012
Not too alcoholic for an Imperial IPA, pours an orange-amber. There are some hints of caramel malts, but they are subtle and very well blended in and accommodated with the hoppy goodness.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 joeneugs (2143) - Livermore, California, USA - DEC 25, 2012
12 oz. bottle. It ours a very dark orange/amber color with a disappearing off white head. The aroma is balanced with tropical fruit and piney hops with some caramel malt sweetness. The flavor is the same. Potent tropical and pine hop flavor and bitterness balanced with a lot of malt. The body is big and chewy. This is definitely a "heavy" IIPA, but pretty darn tasty. The hop character manages to punch through the dense malt. Not my favorite recipe for a IIPA, but very clean and well done.
3.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 FriarHop (111) - Long Beach, New York, USA - DEC 9, 2012
Bottle: pretty nice imperial. Big malt profile, hops seem buried in the heavy caramel body of the malts. A bit smelly when warmed up. On draft: better than in bottle.
