A Belgian-Style IPA. The Bitter Woman journeyed to Belgium and returned with a certain je ne sais quoi. A spicy belgian yeast and specialty caramel malts add a whole new dimension of sophistication and style to our favorite Old Lass. Enjoy the Bitter Woman Belgian Style!

Bottle at the Funky 6. Pours clear, amber-gold with a moderate, white head. Nice fruits and hops in the aroma with yeasty notes. Fairly sweet with some orange citrus, malts, light caramel and decent bitterness. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Dries out a bit in the finish with some crisp yeast notes and lingering citrus peel bitters. Nice beer.

Pours a hazy golden orange color with an off-white head. Still surprisingly hoppy for the age of this beer. Lots of fruity and floral notes along with quite a bit of yeast and some nice esters. Sweet bread and malt flavor are more pronounced on the palate. The citrus and fruit character translates to the flavor as well. A hint of grass and only a mild bitterness with some yeastiness toward the back end.

Nice touch by Tyranena of adding thirdeye11 in a cheesehead hat and monk robe on the bottle.

UPDATED: FEB 4, 2011 Bottle shared by JaBier. Pours a cloudy reddish-amber color with a medium rocky off-white head that recedes steadily. Stringy lacing on the glass. Aroma of yeast, cloves and fruit. Medium body with flavors of fresh fruit, yeast, cloves and grain. The finish is citrusy with a sweet spice aftertaste that lingers. Decent overall.

12 oz twist off bottle (when you switchin to pry off Tyranena?) Apparently it is a spin off of Bitter Woman. It is the Summer Seasonal for 2010. Pours a nice deep amber/orange with a passionfruit skin tint. The head is small even with a vigorous pour. It recedes with some decent lacing. The smell is big and Belgian. No sign of hops in here. I wish there was more hops here. Instead it is pure Belgian yeast. It is sweet, carmally, fruity, and clovey, but not hoppy, disappointment there. The hops appear more in the flavor with a slight bitterness but the yeast is all over this. Tons of clove, tons of fruit (banana), tons of sweetness, and tons of caramel malt. Mostly just like drinking bittersweet yeast. Overall it is rather meek for the style that usually brings a decent amount of hops in addition to a nice yeast presence, this one is a bit one dimensional. Bottle from Reilly’s in Madison. Looks closer to a Belgian, tastes closer to an IPA. A delight, a clear hop delivery, cushioned by yeast rather than malt secondary. Golden diffused by the off-white yast. Hoppy aroma. Very good drinkability. Tad above average mouthfeel, though carbonation was right there.

Amber with a white head. Yeast, apples, earthy hops and some alcohol in the nose. Flavor starts yeasty and fruity. Finishes with some light bitterness. Very nice.
