Black, with a touch of red around the edges. Nice, big dense brown head. Big coffee aroma, and huge coffee flavor, too. Smoooth and sweetish notes, too. Very easy to drink, as well. Thanks to Buckybeer for the trade!

Bottle from Pantanap; Nose of roastiness, coffee, and malt; Red- tinged brown with a rusty tan head; flavor of chocolate, coffee, oatmeal, (which shows up in a nice ly thick body), and a light hop presence.

Thanks to Ughsmash for the brew! Very pleasant nose - my fav part of this beer - coffee (obviously), lots of milk chocolate, oak, roasty tones...what you might expect. Flavor was quite similar - pleasant with the coffee, def not overpowering - finished with a mild bitter bite. Only knock was the below average appearance - quite thin/minimal lacing. Otherwise, definitely a nice beer - silky smooth. However, if it was a little chewier - it would be epic.

Bottle: Near black pour with a smaller tan head. Nose is intense with coffee and heavy roast. The coffee takes over the flavor, but is accented well with cocoa, bittersweet chocolate, and roastiness. Wow, thatís a helluva lotta coffee! Thanks BuckDich for sharing.

Very good, Derekís fresh bottle. Bit of burnt coffee and molasses and chocolate malt aroma. Soft creamy and full mouthfeel, silky smooth. black, with lots of head. Well malted, milk chocolate, and gets all the bitterness down.

Bottle. A black beer with a beige head. The aroma is of roasted malt, coffee and chocolate and spices, so is the taste. Medium to full body with a long smooth coffee finish.

12 oz. bottle courtesy of Bockyhorsey - Pours a thick dark brown color with a one finger thick tan head. Light lacing. Aroma is mostly coffee with a touch of more coffee. Itís quite nice. Flavor again, is mostly coffee. Has a pleasant bitterness. No lingering aftertaste. Medium body. Nice, neutral palate. This is probably the best coffee porter/beer Iíve had. Thanks Bill and Wendy. Next time, Iíll take a six pack!

UPDATED: SEP 17, 2007 acquired in trade from incutrav...arigato! nice black pour the devil would be proud of. aromas of coffee beans, sweet malts and anise. flavor is dominated by dark roasted espresso beans. as it warms the coffee steps aside to reveal vinous flavors, dark dried fruits and star anise. very creamy rich mouth feel and a bitter after taste like iíve got espresso beans tucked in my gums. i cried a little when i finished it knowing i canít get it here...4.7 rerated 9/17/07...second bottle with 2/2/07 label. clearly starting to lose the coffee bite in the aroma and flavor that was enjoyed the first time around. creaminess is amped but bitterness is more like stale cold coffee than fresh. 4

UPDATED: MAY 6, 2008 Huge aroma of fresh coffee. Slightly intimidating. Taste has strong coffee, but it doesnít dominate, there is still room for roasted notes and faint chocolate. Solid porter.

A very nice porter. Full bodied. The oatmeal is there, and so is the coffee. But even while coffee is the dominant character, it doesnít overwhelm the malt and chocolate flavors.
