5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
UPDATED: MAR 29, 2007 ***This is the BOMB!***Pours black w/ a brown maple robe. Froth is shallow and residual lacing is minimal. Aroma is heavily roasted w/ coffee beans. Full nectar w/ soft and creamy residual effers. Huge roasted malts packing a ton of blackened coffee beans. A mild sweetness is upfront . It keeps the roast component interesting, almost turning mexican chili pepper. Itís not complex but sure is tastey. I could drink a few of these in a sitting. The finish is long on flavor w/ a mild, velvet bittering. I savor every sip. Overall: smooth, rich, and heavily roasted. Highly recommended. p/s Iíll be headed to the Betty Ford clinic before long. This stuff is addictive and Iím jonesiní for another bottle.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
THANX TO BUCKYBEER! Pour was a dark brown with a huge foamy tan head. Make that a brown head. Nose is cold coffee even before I sniff. As the creamy head settles, the nose is still all coffee. Almost like walking into a starbucks. Loved the flavor. This is a coffee drink, trace of creamy, chocolate, and dark brew. I am loving this. Wish I could have a case of this. Mouth feel was full, satisfying. Great brew. No big negative , almost a perfect brew. I MUST agree with roberts reality, there is a ash, burnt after taste, but not a negative.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Nice dark brown to black color, small tan head that had a decent hang time and managed to leave a bit of a lace behind. The aroma was roasty and malty with a decent chocolate and almost sweet milk chocolate thing going on.The flavor was quite pleasant.malty and chocolatey with a decent semi sweet chocolate taste, some hints of hops in the middle and end with a nice roasty side.Theres a slight wine like thing going on as well a bit oily in the middle but over all very nice brew and well worth having again.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Somewhat opaque dark brown pour, ruby highlights. Fully and quickly diminishing dark tan head. Leaves a beige ring at the edge of the glass. Minor lacing. Aroma is mostly coffee. I wouldnít go so far as to say this immediately feels one dimensional, but near overwhelming coffee certainly inhibits easy clarification and identification of subtle malt nuances. Some chocolate and moderate roastiness are noticeable, hazelnuts and a sour milk note on the back end as well. The coffee in the aroma does smell good. Quite a bit more balance comes in the flavor. Still very heavy coffee. The combination of that with big roasty chocolate tastes simulates an interesting peanut butter note. I feel like every sip taken brings me closer to being so awake my eyeballs dry out because Iím too alert to blink. This would be fantastic at 9 a.m. in the board room. Finishes roasty and very dry with slight sugariness. Palate is bubbly, sticky, medium to full bodied, with a sweet/dry balance until a very dry climax at the bitter end.

UPDATED: JUL 13, 2007 Pours a black color with brown head that fades quickly. Aroma is intensely coffee, verging on an expresso aroma or like opening up a a vacuumed sealed bag of your favorite French roast coffee. Tyranena seems to have the most memorable and savory aromas that my nose has had the pleasure of inhaling. If I keep sniffing this beer Iím going to turn in the Afrin Man. Taste does not disappoint with the coffee flavors forging ahead amongst all the flavors. Iím picking up some chocolate, milk sugars, roasted malt and a nice fruity, almost cherry like taste thatís very subtle but shows up in the finish. This beer is nicely carbonated and finishes pretty smooth with a bit of dryness. Damn grocery store only had a 4pk of this but if they have more I will be stocking up. Excellent job Tyranena, keep up the good work!

Biiiiig beer! Interessting interplay between the dark fruit, molasses, malt, coffee, and hops. Sometime hard to differentiate which is what. Great body. Nice tan head with lace. Good carbonation. Full flavor, clean, nicely balanced, and good finish. Not a session beer. Had a bottle at Bodega Brew Pub, downtown La Crosse, Wisconsin USA

Bottle: Black coffee in color, minor light brown foamy head, dwindles quickly, sparce lacing, a ring of bubbles remains.   Very strong coffee nose.   Smells like freshly roasted beans!   Minor aspects of cocoa and thats about it.   The coffee really dominates.   Coffee, cocoa, roasted malts, milk sugar, slight ash and charred wood on the tongue.   A bit more diverse on the tongue than in the nose.   Backside has a soft hop bitterness.   Canít get over how coffee oriented the nose is.   I am not much of a coffee fan, but this one is well built.   Full bodied, moderate mouthfeel.   Milk and sugar coffee finish.   If I have coffee, maybe once or twice a year, this is how I have it... plenty of milk and sugar in it.   A very unique and enjoyable brew.   Thanks John for this one!

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
12oz bottle via trade with brigadier - Thanks Nathan!! - Pours very balck witha big tan head. Great big coffee aroma but underneath some roasted malts and even a bit of bakers chocolate. Flavor is mainly dominated by coffee as well but a good balance of bakers chocolate, and some good roasted malts and a little of that oatmeal sweetness.. The oatmeal adds wonderful texture to this full bodied malty wonder. Alcohol cannot be found.. Very good brew.. I really did enjoy this one.. Might have even been better than i anticipated it to be..
