12oz bottle, courtesy of kp. Thanks, Keith! Pours a very dense, dark brown color; light tan head with fine-bubbled lacing. Pleasant, toasty vanilla, slightly warming bourbon, and semi-sweet chocolate in the aroma; some nougat and nice woodiness coming through; generous aroma without being overly sweet. Relaxed carbonation. Tons of viscous toffee, bourbon, dense nougat / caramel, and bittersweet chocolate at the forefront; nothing overly sticky; some oily, creamy nuttiness coming through; the barrel aging is very nicely integrated into a solid chocolate and nougat core; nothing hot, nothing overly sweet, and nothing close to boozy. A nice surprise. Lengthy, caramel and nougat and dark chocolate in the finish; a slight warming bourbon character throughout.

12 oz bottle from someone. Pours a thick, deep rich black color. Aroma is insane - with lots of roasted malt, bourbon and oak. Flavor is really nice, but there is an odd sourness at the end that is kind of distracting. This would be the only flaw I can find in this beer. Had this sourness not been present this probably would have been a 4+ rating.

12 oz bottle. Black with a big, dense, brown head. Deep, roasty malt nose, some raisin and coffee, rich chocolate. Excellent lace! Mildly dry, bittersweet flavor - chocolate, vanilla and light bourbon, accented with a snappy coffee. Baking chocolate bitter finish. Exceedingly smooth body. Just... wow!

Pours a near pitch black with brown around the edges. Absolutely no head to speak of. Smell is lots of bourbon and some roasted chocolate notes. Taste is much of the same and boy is it good. There is a nice roasted flavor profile coming from the coffee. This is without a doubt my favorite Tyranena offering. Definitely needs to be brewed again.

solid black, thin fine brown head that can be stirred up into producing a bit of lace that quickly dripps back down the glass, sweet bourbon aroma with hints of oak, vanilla, and chocolate, thick creamy velvet body, light sweetness, mild bourbon character that grows and blends well with the nice rich chocolate, nice roasted character that provides the light bitterness, eventually the bourbon takes over but is not out of control, hint of alcohol,

Aroma of oats, chocolate, a touch of bourbon and a tiny bit of oxidation that smells a bit like minerals. Dark brown in color, pretty much black. Flavor is really good, I taste coffee, chocolate, touch of oak and bourbon, vanilla, some rich molasses and some type of spice in the fairly dry finish. Texture is excellent, super soft and creamy, it coats the mouth without being overly sweet like many imperials. Oak and bourbon are very subtle. This is excellent. They should brew this again.

Pours out black with a light tan head that retains decent and leaves some lacing as well. Smell is outstanding; chocolate, vanilla, bourbon, French roast coffee, and a little molasses. Taste opens with some vanilla that leads right into some chocolate, toffee, and coffee notes. It’s not done there though, there is also some oak and bourbon as well as vanilla. Both smell and taste are 6 out of 5, just amazing. Lower carbonation and full bodied makes this an excellent sipper. I could sip on one of these every night, I just wish I had another so I could enjoy this masterpiece again.

Picked up single bottle at The Coffee Grounds in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. Pours a clear, dark dark borwn brew with a small, short lived beige head that dissolves to a fine film. Aroma of chocolate with some bourbon, oak wood, and a touch of vanilla. Taste is full bodied, smooth and silky feel with soft carbonation. Finish is sweet and smooth with a slight toffee aftertaste. Tasty!
