Chief BlackHawk Porter is a robust black and sharply bittersweet ale. This style was traditionally the session beer consumed by the porters in London.

Poured from a 12 ounce bottle. Pours a dark brown with a light beige head. The aroma has burnt coconut and chocolate. Taste is bittersweet chocolate with a nice toasty note. Thicker mouthfeel. Nice beer.

Pours a dark ebony with frothy voluminous tan head. Aroma is dominated by strong dark roasted malt and a bit of chocolate notes. The taste is a great blend of bitter and sweet notes. An easy finish makes for a very delicious session able porter

Pours black with a two finger sized, tan head. Had aromas of roasted coffee, vanilla, licorice, and a bit of milk chocolate. Pretty sweet going down, with a mild hop bite on the end. Roasty aftertaste, and was not as smooth as 5.4% would indicate. Pretty good porter at a decent price.

Bottle. Pours dark black with no head. Aroma is roasted malts. Flavor matches aroma. Still a little drunk, still nothing special. Blahhhhhhh.

Slightly phenolic with hints of coffee. Appears black, but hold it up to a light and it has some red hues around the edges. Slightly acrid with a coffee roast/bittnerness that comes through. Just enough malt sweetness and dryness to make you want another sip.

Bottle. Pours a deep nearly opaque brown, with a nonexistent head (could be my glass though). Nose is standard porter -- dark roasted barley dominating. Mouth is medium bodied, malt forward, then bitter with a hint of soot. Not really all that great -- especially given the weighted average, so to be fair, this may just be an old bottle.

12 oz bottle courtesy of elkhunter. Thanks. Pours a dark brown color with a small beige head that has fair retention. The aroma is mild with dark roasted grains and some coffee. The flavor is similar to the nose, coffee, blackened barley, unsweetened baking chocolate and earthy hops provide a nice bitter balance. The palate is full and smooth with medium carbonation. Finishes a bit short with some lingering acidity. Overall: Very nice little brew, I will drink again.

Roast, chocolate, and coffee aroma. Black, tan head, and mild lacing. Chocolate, roast, and hop bitter notes. Dry, well balanced, and medium bitterness. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Sample at the DBLDP on 09/02/2012: Murky brown-black pour with a medium tan head that dissipates steadily to an outer ring. Partial rings of lacing. Roasted malt, coffee and chocolate in the nose. Light-bodied with flavors of mocha, earthy malt and hops. The finish is earthy malt and cocoa. Above average overall.
