Pours black with a two finger sized, tan head. Had aromas of roasted coffee, vanilla, licorice, and a bit of milk chocolate. Pretty sweet going down, with a mild hop bite on the end. Roasty aftertaste, and was not as smooth as 5.4% would indicate. Pretty good porter at a decent price.

Draft. Wonderfully smooth session-style porter, with a ton of cafe au lait, raw coffee, dark chocolate, and spice and fruit from the simple hopping.

355ml twist off bottle. Pours a dark brown with a long-lasting tan/offwhite head. Nice lacing. The smell is roasty, lighly smoky, some peat, plenty of unsweetened cocoa. The flavor once again brings to mind smoke. It is slightly metallic but nicely peaty with cacao nibs and a sharp bitterness. Nice one.

Pour from bottle. Roasty malts. Very subtitle chocolate and coffee. Nice easy drinkable porter. Surprised by this one.

Rated on 6-05-2010 (Bottle) This beer pours a medium sized smooth tan head, opaque dark brown body and a fair amount of lacing. The aroma is malty, roasty, chocolate, and coffee. The taste is lightly bitter, malty, coffee, chocolate, and roasty. The palate is lightly tingly and a bit thin. This beer is light-medium bodied. This beer is very quaffable, has a nice roasty flavor, worth trying, and a beer I would drink again.

Bottled 12/7/12. Drank 12/19/13. Over a year old. Cap exploded. Scared the hell out of me. Pours oily black with a fluffy light off-brown head. Aroma is dark chocolate, roast malt, coffee, vanilla, licorice, some dark fruits, bread. Taste is rich, bittersweet; dark chocolate, creamy, roast malt, licorice, hints of dark fruit; very tasty. Nice lacing. Chewy mouth feel. Medium-low carbonation. Really tasty. Nice. I enjoyed this beer a lot.

Deep black pour, ruby hue with a thin and fizzy khaki bubbly head .. aroma of sweet chocolatey and deep roasted malts with light coffee flavor .... taste is of roasted malts with light coffee, caramel and light chocolate malts .... finish is dry ... simple porter mouthfeel is a little slick and the body is thin

Paid $4.00 for a 6 oz. half pint at Hopleaf. Color is hard to see in poor lighting but it looks typical, with thin bubbly tan head. Nose is milk chocolate, roasted barley and caramelized sugar. The flavor is rather nice with the aroma reflecting the taste with the addition of small amounts of espresso beans and vanilla hints. Body displays some creaminess in texture yet, also has a thin watery element. Still after completing the half pint I realized that it was still rather nice to drink with good flavors.

Pours dark brown with tan head. Nose is of chocolate, ashy malt, nuts and a bit of pepper. Taste is a medium to light body chocolate, roasty malt taste with some pepper as well. Not bad.

Brown color. Robust roasted aroma tastes roasted and sweet with some hop balance. Really drinkable and enjoyable porter. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
